Post by: LaserBlue on February 11, 2009, 04:48:21 pm
Well when ever i go to start my car, engine on, in gear, release handbrake just as i pull away it makes a clunk sound?

mostly from the back end?

anything to do with the handbrake?

happens mainly on cold starts

Could it be the brakes sticking during the night and the clonking is just them freeing up??

Does sound like the pads sticking to the cold wet discs. I get it on wet mornings or on a Monday morning after cleaning over the weekend.

just the brakes free'ing up nothing to worry about, most of my cars with big disks have done it, my current car included. in fact if i don't use the car for a couple of days and it's rained they go orange with rust!

yeah guess it could just be the brakes sticking, because at first when pulling off it does seem lil slow more so then normal, but aint done it at all today..

if i had taken it to my vw dealer he would have gave me some bullsh*t about changing my whole brakes or something

not just after a car wash per chance?
I always go for a short run and clean surfaces by applying handbrake and then footbrake after a session.
Doesnt need much, and remember the drive by wire wont allow footbrake and accel together if you feel it cuts out lol
