Title: Covered cubby holes
Post by: PND on October 20, 2010, 08:14:14 am
In my 2006 Golf, I've got the non-smokers cubby (with no lid), and also the front double-cupholder (with no sliding cover).  I'm wanting to replace these with the following:

Front cubby with black lid (non ashtray version)
Sliding/roll cover storage unit (incl bottle openers)

Can anyone tell me the part numbers please and rough cost for each?

If anyone has either of these for sale, or just lying round, please let me know..  I'll try and find some pics tonight showing what I'm after, but I'm sure you know what I mean!

Cheers!

You'll need a new base, as well as the two parts of the lid.

Sliding/roll cover storage unit (incl bottle openers)
That's quite a big job.  You'll need to remove the front seats to properly do that job.  Do you have the centre armrest?

Hi T_T

Thanks a lot for the speedy and very informative reply!  Yes, I do have the armrest and I fitted it myself some time ago so know how fiddly a job it will be.  I didn't remove the seats when I did the armrest, so I should be OK..

Think I'll keep my eyes open and see if I see some going cheap!  I'll stick something in the wanted section..

Thanks again  :happy2:

Paul.

Replaced the lot on my Rocco, same centre console.

Don't need to remove the seats or armrest, took about 1 hr 30mins.  Most fiddly bit is getting to all the screws in the fwd part of the Centre console.  the CConsole is not removed, but all screws out and you can move it about, and just get it fwd enough to lift past the armrest.  I used a piece of plastic taped to the fwd face of the armrest to prevent any scratches as i worked under the cup holder..

I saw the bottle opener on an American website the other day. It was 50 bucks!
