Just bought What Hi-FI? Sound and Vision as they have the 2010 awards in there for everything you'll be needing Johnny
Best 42-42" TV award went to the Samsung UE40C8000 whilst I'm looking at getting the 50" Best 3D TV which is the Samsung PS50C6900 at £1200 (although the Panasonic TX-P50V20 gets the best 50" TV award without 3D and is £1400)
Categories for the awards are:-
TV's
Cables
CD players
Systems
Blu-Ray players
Digital Media
Stereo Amps
Ipod Docks
Projectors
Speaker packages
Headphones
Home Cinema
Radios
Stereo Speakers
Turntables
PVR's
Accessories
and the Readers Award
So plenty of reading and eye candy to get your juices flowing :happy2:

As you have bought the right TV then you should have the right receiver on the list - Denon.
As for the corner sofa just have left, right and centre rear as opposed to the traditional 2 channels. Otherwise don't bother spending the money on an AV setup.

Dont tell Teutonic_Tamer you bought this magazine!!
-
Sounds good - my only concern with the magazine - WANT FACTOR!!!! Will this make you want things youm just can't have, or do they take into account normal ppl too? with normal budgets?
Hedge < Yes, its hard to put rear speakers in my lounge. Think I will be happy with 2 front, 1 centre and a box.
Do you think I should forget the amp then now?
-
Hedge < Yes, its hard to put rear speakers in my lounge. Think I will be happy with 2 front, 1 centre and a box.
Nope.
Do you think I should forget the amp then now?
Nope but its pointless if you aren't using the rears.
Have you considered 3 or even 4 small satellite speakers wall mounted? Left, right and 1 or 2 centre rears?
-
What's the budget?
-
KEF do some front speaker which are all in one, they have some silly amount of speakers in each unit, designed to work like a surround set - no way as good but not a bad compromise.
My brother has a set, dont think they were cheap mind you.
-
as its a plasma dont forget to run it in :happy2: (turn off dynamic contrast/reduce brightness etc)
some do, some dont choice is yours :happy2:
-
like to main 5.1 just my sofa is big and hard to get anything in corners (Right up against the wall.
Looking at small hand sized speakers - can stand or wall mount - not fussy.
Budget - realistic!! Not £1000's but not £24.99!!

and your using ps3 for playing films yea?
-
Yea - PS3 not good?
-
imo perfectly fine, optical out for audio, into an £220-£250 amp with some surround speakers.
-
do you have any other hdmi devices you going to want to be plugged into this amp?
-
Good idea to have an upscaling amp - so you only need HDMI to the screen, then other non HDMI connections into the amp will pass video feed through the HDMI to the screen. Otherwise you the other cables running to the screen also.
-
I bought a Harmon Kardon AVR355 12 months ago and its still in the box whats people opinion on these?
-
Look at good TV, with good sound.
Streaming blueray films (currently have a PS3)
All my films are stored on a hard drive < Best way to stream these from the HD to the TV in best quality and sound.

Sounds better out of the box
-
Never knew you had to run the plasma's in, although my 50" samsung plasma is on movie all the time which reduces the brightness.
Any other advise? I was going to get some picture frame speakers for the back wall but not sure if they do any decent ones??

I came accross this running in at one visit to SevenOaks HIFI. They had several Plasma 50" running in the shop all the same make and model. They said they were destined for a shopping centre and need around 100 hours running in time!!!
-
