Drove home from work tonight MFD read 305 miles to empty. 10 mile drive home, couldn't have a blast due to traffic being heavy and MFD read 315 Miles when I got home.
Brilliant, a 200 bhp car that hardly uses any petrol!!!!!!!!!
-
Good isnt it.... shame that as soon as you boot it, it soon wipes the smile off its own face!
-
It works out the miles to empty on your driving style over X amount of time. Your driving style changed and at that rate the car thinks you can go further and thus calculates 315 miles.
-
small petrol fairys
-
i filled up yesterday and it said 300 miles to empty is that good or not
-
after a track day, i can refil the car and it reckoned i only had 160 miles for the tank. 20 minutes on cruise at 70Mph and thats right back up into the 300s.
300 miles was my average distance but im quite heavy footed and was stage 2+ and used the car as it was designed

Mine always says 300 when I fill it up, depending how I drive determines how many miles I get.

I've given up the will to live when looking at miles to empty. On my way back from JMK, I averaged sommat like 16mpg, and on the way to the Pod, it was 13.1mpg . . . . :booty:

It's like that at the Nurburgring, 8MPG on the track and the light comes on half way round. Leave the circuit to go and get some fuel and by the time you get there the lights gone back off and the range has gone up!
-
Phew, I thought you were talking about the price of the stuff for a minute! Mine goes up on the motorway, but rapidly down in suburbia.
-
OFF Topic.... sorry
Greeners... is this your motor?

Ahhhhh - happy days - my lowest ever average was 6.7 mpg, flat out on the autoroutes in a Vectra 2.5 V6 GSI.

....You probably already know the reason why: The mpg is calculated smartly on-the-fly and so it re-adjusts as you come off track and drive 'normally'.
[T_T will correct me if I'm wrong]

Yes, I forget exactly - but it is only calculated on the previous 20 miles, or 20 minutes.

Same here
I have noticed the range figure going up on my dad's 1.9 TDI sometimes.
EDIT:
Of topic but can you see the range figure on a midline display or just highline?

....If by the term "range" you mean how many miles remaining before fill up, then yes you have this display option on Midline (06-build 05-plate GTI).
-
it's part of the trip computer so doesn't matter if you have mid/highline.
