ok, the time has come, car will be sporting a new remap soon enough
no additional modifications just a std Edition 30 , so what settings should it run ?
obviously it will get logged + dyno but for now I just want to know where the limitations are.
I'm assuming Fuel 9 , and a reduced Boost setting as I want to preserve my clutch a little bit.
thanks
John

John i used to run 6 6 9 on stg 1 and made for a lovely progressive power delivery :happy2:
-
I would go with b6t5f9 if you don't have vcds to do some logging.

John has vcds Dom :happy2:

B6 T6 F9 is for a progressive map.
B1 T6 F9 produces 263 bhp
B5 T6 F9 productes 275 bhp
B7 T5 F9 is what Thor ran at.
EDIT: For some reason, I always thought you had a modded car?
-
I thought that stage one took the ed30 up to 300bhp? Or is that just pub fuelled rumours?

he did he's swaping from APR

Depends on which rollers you run. You could run a stage 1 eddy on two different rollers and get two different results eg 270bhp and 310bhp. Which one are you likely to believe?

Well... i suppose id take an average... and its not all about 'peak' power anyway!

i ran mine on b7t5f9 got good results
-
Are the BTF setting 'end user adjustable'.. or are they set at the time of mapping and left?
-
cheers guys :happy2:
car is back running B6 T3 F9 , as Ive got some 97 RON in the tank from a trip up north at the weekend, so awesome had to peg it back after logging showed excessive CF's
apparently its enough to cause an issue, will go T5/6 once got some more vpower in.
rich , you need to get the SPS handset that allows you to adjust the settings through the OBD port. :happy2:

969 FTMFW  :driver: :signLOL:
-
Mine is set at T5/B7/F9.
-
F3 ???? you sure
-
That's what I have written down. It could be the settings for my old car though
EDIT: It turns out they probably are as I have just done a search and found an old post of mine with the current settings on. Have edited my first post in this thread to avoid any confusion.

B6 T3 F9
Why would you reduce timing to 3? What effect does it have on the car? And in terms of power?
Not criticising - just trying to understand.
-
my error, car has some 97 RON BP rubbish in it ! so didnt like the usual T5/6
will increase now i have a full tank of vpower + some vcds logging :happy2:
-
I can't get my head around timing. When/why should you increase/decrease it?

I can't get my head around timing. When/why should you increase/decrease it?
Timing is usually increased/decreased depending on the what octane fuel you're running. So if you run 95 ron supermarket fuel it wants to be lower than it would if you were running 99 ron V Power. Then there's your octane booster and race fuel which can allow you to up it further..
In a nutshell, the higher the timing the more power can be achieved..
-
Timing is usually increased/decreased depending on the what octane fuel you're running.
So if you always run V-power, you should increase the timing? At what point does it become too much and hence detrimental to the car?

That's when VAGCOM is needed mate. Every car responds differently so it's hard to give a definate answer. I wouldn't go over 5 on V Power without doing logs on your CFs..

Currently I am running B7T6F7.
I found on my car with the standard HPFP I could not run more than B6 without seeing a large difference between requested and actual rail pressure. See here for more info:

With the colder weather coming in I am now able to run T6, this is also helped by the fact that I am able to run a richer AFR - F7. During the summer months I was running T5. You my find with the ED30 that you will not be able to get higher than T5 without an uprated intercooler.
With regards to boost I have chosen to keep it at 7 mainly to try and presever my clutch  I can easily go higher than 7 with the uprated HPFP but for now would prefer not too. I have also found from looking at MAF numbers that boost number does not make that much difference to how much power the car makes at the red line. Setting boost to a higher level gives you more of a mid range kick (more torque) which is always nice :happy2:. Good ignition timing advance will make the difference to your top end power.

According to the instructions the default Performance Mode is B6T2F9 - I guess this is aimed at lower octane fuels...
What would you suggest for 97RON (no 99 near me!)? B6T4F9?
-
Mines on B6 T4 F9 on V-Power
-
Cheers, I should probably keep it at 3 as john_o did then.
-
Yes possibly..... But the engine will keep its self in trim anyway so 4 shouldnt cause any issues. I think my CF went up to about 5 on the rolling road which is within safe levels!
-
Sorry what does CF mean?
Hmmm I really need to save up for VCDS!
-
Where do you live... Someone close should have VCDS
CF - correction factor. The amount of retardation to avoid knocking ( I think)
-
Revo tech support recommend B6T2F9 for 95 ron and B6T4F9 for 98 ron. I have mine on B6T5F9 for V Power. Not done any logging but it feels about right and has a fairly smooth curve. Below are the graphs from a recent run on JKM's rollers. Mine's a standard GTI on stage 1 not an Eddy. The figures are nowhere near what Revo claim but I didn't expect they would be. Maybe if it was put on a more generous (less accurate) set of rollers it would make 255

Same here... :happy2:
