Title: Data Logger & Display
Post by: NeilM on October 27, 2010, 10:13:24 pm
Anyone used a Race Technology DL1 logger & Dash3 display?

I know your not supposed to time laps on track days but analysing data after is ok & no beacons required.

That looks like nice stuff.  Not cheap.  Have you thought about the Racelogic Performance Box?

Do you do alot of track days?

Not quite the same, but have you seen this? Harry's Laptimer (http://web.me.com/hschlangmann/LapTimer_Homepage/Home.html). Loads of data aquisition and some other neat features too.

New version for iPhone4 overlays data onto HD film. As seen here:

Haven't done any lately as I'm waiting to get my car back (this week ) from VW Racing after a strip out.

The Race Technology DL1 logger & Dash3 is probably a bit OTT for the odd track day, the Performance box would give all the info you'll need really, but you can have input sensors, Trackmaps with satellite overlay and software that shows all sorts of stuff, you could bore your mates stupid  :happy2:

I've heard about these 'mobile telephones' I'm really not sure they're going to catch on  :signLOL:

They're just dead easy, I had a P-Box out at Oulton on Saturday and to be honest there's far too much data for me and all I want is something that overlays onto a video... which it does, but so do other things too.

Cheers mate,

Do the track day organisers mind? as I guess you have to have it on display stuck to the windscreen.

Ahh no, timing is not allowed, so it was in the back window were I couldn't see it 'realtime'. I suppose you could mount one somewhere more suitable and use an external GPS antenna too.

Neil, no probs using a DL1 as it uses a GPS sensor on the roof, track day companies aren't keen on you knowing your times when on track.

Have you already purchased one yet? If not give us a shout as someone else might be buying one.

Not sure if I am allowed to mention that I can supply all of the above at good prices  :drinking:

If not sure the mods will let me know :)
