..... ..... but only for a week.
The sad part is for the poor effort replacement car ....... it's turbo'd ....... but it is only a 1.2 :fighting: . A crappy Renualt Clio 1.2 turbo.
The good part, when it comes back it'll have a new map on it.
Currently gotta Chipped Uk map, flashed via the ST3 unit. But since Jayson left Chipped UK for pastures new his replacment, Simon, has provided me with a new map (which was slower and more effort to drive) so i flashed the older map back, much better. Rang Simon, he then promissed to email me a new map ....... still nothing. It's taken an age getting anything out of Simon, i appreciate that he's busy, but it's promis after promis and nothing ever emerges of any use !
So with this in mind i came upon the oppertunity to have a Revo map done. They're currently using my car for development of the 170bhp diesel engine with and with out the DPF.
Looking forward to getting it back.
I'll keep you lot posted about the results (even though it's a diesel and you'll not be interested)
:nerd: :driver:
-
sounds exciting mate, what sort of power are they expecting ?, oh and have they sorted the DPF issues ?
-
Sounds awesome. How will this affect the fuel consumption? And what sort of extra stresses does a diesel engine incure after being remapped?
Mike
-
You should expect 200bhp shouldn't you?
-
You should expect 200bhp shouldn't you?
would be quicker than a gti, imagine the torque
-
But Jayson owned the outfit although I had heard he transferred ownership to his wife???
Ive had dealings with ChippedUK before and im not surprised you are having no joy!
BTW can you let me know how you got the US running lights activated.
Thanks
-
I reckon you will get more than 200BHP. I think Mark's car had 200+ BHP with the DPF on, now it has been removed I think he will be looking at 220-230BHP with enough torque to pull a jumbo jet :jumpmove:

Or just enough torque to tow a MK4

TBH i'm expecting 230bhp and 340ft/lbs. Anything else and it'll be a bonus :happy2:

Mike
On the current fast road map witht eh DPF removed it's cone up about 3%
As for engine stress, all well within tollerences
You should expect 200bhp shouldn't you?
It made 205bhp and 330ft/lbs on the current Chipped UK fast road map with the DPF fitted.

As far as Chipped UK's site is conserned, there press release - he's consentrating on other projects such as a karting team and something else.
Simon is the main fella now apparently.
As for the U.S. running lights, i did it myself, i have vag com.
I'll sort out the coding for ya when i get my car back.

Correct.....as above.....my car made 205 ponies
And yes, about 230bhp with minimal smoke.....TBH i don't care about smoke, thats behind me :P but we shall see

It'll be dull compared to yours Ben !
....but not too bad for my work sh*tter

I'm not surprised that you've not had much joy with CUK, seems to be a common theme.
I don't know where the DD dyno was that you used but if you want good numbers for pub talk make sure you go back there. If you go to somone who uses the Dyno correctly you might not be so pleased.

Would you care to qualify this please.
The DD dyno used has been very consistant in the past.
I come from evo circles, and they have proven not only to be consistant, but accurate to within +/- 10bhp with other DD dyno's on the same cars.
The DD Dyno used for my results is Corten Miller, they also dyno'd my S4 (b6) with a Revo reflash and that made about the riht power then.
All of my dyno sessions that they've undetaken for me including the Golf, they haven't known the spec of the car. the results have been consistant with power figures estimated by both Revo and Chipped UK give or take afew BHP.
So ultimately, why do you think my power figure is over inflated ??

Because of the variation or differance between the AT and IT it will give an over corrected figure. If the ambient air temp is 25' then where is the intake air at 56' coming from? The car will be sucking in almost similar temp are as the ambient.
I'm not going to get into another debate about dyno's, I'm quite sick of it tbh. Dyno operators are either not operating them properly or they are unreliable dyno's. Either way people are getting ripped off.
I know what I know and that's good enough for me, I have seen how they dyno's can be 'made' to give a reading which is almost as bad as entering the wrong information for the compensation calculation, after all the computer will only compute the information it is given.
As for figures quoted by REVO, well that is a whole other story!!

I'm not desputing what our saying, i know myself that figure can be made to read what they want when they want. But my point is i find it coinsidental that the power figure achived was very close to what CUK estimated and the Dyno opperator didn't know what the car had done.
Figures quoted by Revo as a company i cannot comment on. but i'm dealing with one guy, and TBH, he says himself that the figures my car got today on a mah ha dyno are only an indication - not a tur comparison.
It'll be interesting to compare the pub talk figures achived on the DD Dyno when i pick it back up.
TBH, figures are figures.....little more..... it's how it goes that i'm more interested in.
It'll be food for thought
-
Ohh, a possibilty of the high intake temp could be me drviing like a bat outta hell as i was late getting to the rollers then not leaving it running while they strapped it down on the Dyno ??
Just been thinking about possible high intake causes ?!
-
Well........ I get the car back tomorrow ! :jumpmove:
Looking forward to it too......the car they gave me isn't exactly great......
......Renualt Clio 1.2 turbo :P

They fitted and adapted the DPF removal pipe. The Milteck pipe didn't fit the std system as it was supossed to.
Corey has done a good job.
He sorted out having Revo use my car for the development for the DPF by-pass maps.
Origionaly i was going to persivere with Chipped Uk, but there is only so many times that i can be arsed to chase them time after time :happy2:
-
Ohh, with reference to the CUK map and the "dpf removed map" they sent. I looked at them - and guess why i felt no better improvement........
......it's the same map just with a sodding different file name......tosser ! :angry015:
I think they thing there customers a stupid :signIWS: :rolleye:
-
so the car works perfectly fine without the DPF ?

Yup......i ran it for a week on the CUK fast road map, and TBH, i never saw one CEL light.
TBH, i've never had any CEL issues at all. I was expecting it to come on but nope....been fine all the way.
I did about 1200 miles without it on BTW
-
i see, well cant wait to see what you think of the revo map then :happy2:

Should be good, been speaking to kev on the phone, he says it feels alot stronger !
I just wanna get it back on the rollers to compare it with the CUK map. I also have afew test routes local and one out your way to compare speeds :happy2:
-
Looking forward to the results as I will be doing very similar mods when I get my GT TDI 170 :happy2:

Right, been to collect my car today. Got to Revo HQ, my cars parked all washed and fuelled up ready to go.
Chatted with Kev and Carl, talked few afew things here and there - bounced some ideas about.
Kev handed me my keys, said go take it for a spin, see what i think.
Inital impression....... the cars eagre. Keen to rev, minimal (and i mean very minimal) lag.
Once warmed through propperly.......the first real drive...... i was pleasently surprised on how breathless the car is, it loves revving. Diesels are slow burners, but this feels like a petrol.
Very smooth power delivery, constant, strong, lively.
The torque is there almost from the get go and again, it seems to have plenty of ingear punch whenever called upon.
Struggle for traction in the dry if your heavy footed, but using the gogo pedal with moderation it's fine.
The fuel econ has also impoved, the run back to Lincoln, using it spiritedly out of roudabouts and cruising at 80-90 units i saw a healthy 54mpg. Time will tell once i work it out propperly, but for the power gotten, i'm happy.
As with every development car, it has acouple of hickups ...... but these are minor.... and aux related not map related. They need monitoing, then logging, then we can see if the fixes we have for them once loaded onto the car work.
To conclude :
Very happy with the car now, pull strongly and drives well.
The service recived by the guys down @ Revo was exellent and i'm sure it will continue to be so.
I'll need to get it dyno'd to compare....but drivability-wise it's transformed the car !
-
Sounds like it's one mean oil burner now, good to hear your pleased with it
Also thanks for keeping us posted NotNormal :happy2:
-
Glad you like it. Having spent some time at REVO HQ myself and knowing Kev I completely agree with you, they are very helpful.
What's next then?

Next, wheels and springs.
Ohh got some other body things going on too. Slightly different - but it some things subtle, somethings not so subtle :P  :happy2:
Once the teething prob's are ironed out, i'll be dynoing it for comparison.
Yeah, Kev is a great guy. dealt with him when i had Revo on my S4 (B6). the rest of them @ Revo HQ are good people too.
Been oput to the fireworks this evening, 3 people in my car, and my boot full of work stuff and it pulled like a train, didn't even feel loaded TBH - happy as. :drinking:
-
Glad you got it back Notnormal and you are happy
sounds likea great transformation being able to rev freeir and a added bonus of better economy, awesome result 8)
show us the graphs when the little niggles are sorted :happy2:

Tom let me know when you put it on the rollers again, as I wouldn't mind coming to seeing as they are DD rollers. Want to find out exactly what my car's making and put an end to this RR lottery argument.. Assuming you're using Corten Miller again?

I pissed on a std Gti with the CUK fats road map (with DPF fitted), so i should do better now

Yes Ben, will do, once the niggles are sorted, and yes, it'll be back at Corten Miller.

Good to hear Notnormal, I think I will be going down to see Revo when I get my GT TDI 170 :happy2:

ADMIN NOTICE
Quick Shifter, Like everyone you have a right to an opinion but as a first post this wasn't acceptable and as such I have removed it. It has purely come across as you have some vested interest in Chipped UK???
If you wish to introduce yourself properly and start again then please as 99% of all other new members have done on this site then start a new thread in the intro's section. If you then wish to post another comment on this thread then you are more than welcome to.
Thanks,

Hello and welcome quick shifter
-
ohhhh what did he say?! and its its simon from CUK....
EDIT: Sorry Jay that aint gonna help
DOUBLE EDIT.
-
i know im sorry mate!
-
i had good service from them .its not a vested interest.just stating that that wasnt a cuk dyno printout.and why would another tuner want to give inflated dyno results(sh*t im crap at maths but that dont add up.
-
^^^ Agreed it wasn't a CUK dyno print out, but it works both ways why should a tuners own dyno be seen as gospel, whats to stop them "inflating" the results??
Like I said before if you wish to continue posting on the site I would be greatful if you would at least introduce yourself properly :happy2:
