Title: interior lights??
Post by: gti265 on October 30, 2010, 12:13:13 am: has anyone changed all their interior lights to leds?? and are all the bulbs the same size or are some diffrent??

Post by: v2brett on October 30, 2010, 08:02:17 pm: pretty easy really , front you just pop the clear plastic part out, rear pull the full light cover off from the edges and the footwell lights pop out with a screwdriver. the hardest part is removing the heat shield from the footwell lights and thats not too hard tbh :happy2:

Have a look through this. Had to modify the boot one with some folded up foil to bridge the gap. Any questions feel free to ask :happy2:

Yeah, I know it's a lot for lights but I think they're worth it

Post by: Norbreck21a on November 17, 2010, 12:54:48 pm: Just had a couple of the festoon ones delivered for the rear number plate, but as it was persisting down outside (and bloody cold) thought I would leave that for another day.

Was still interested to see exactly what difference there would be, so I swapped out the central interior light for one of these LED jobbies, and could believe the difference. Never noticed how yellow the old filament ones were. Here's a couple of pics:

I just popped the plactic cover off the front light and I only have 2 spotlight bulbs - no centre bulb? :confused:
Do I need to remove the silver housing in between the 2 spotlights to see the festoon bulb?!

Post by: Norbreck21a on November 17, 2010, 01:34:25 pm: I think this was part of VW's cost cutting on later models, in that the centre light was deleted. Mine is a 2005 model year so has all 3, but my mate with an 08 model (like you) only has the outer 2.
