Title: Launch control
Post by: S800BRN on October 30, 2010, 12:23:47 am
Hi all
Just a quick one - was launch control only introduced on newer DSG GTIs? Mine's an '05 plate and doesn't seem to have it.
You reckon it could be 'flashed' to the DSG ecu?

Cheers in adavnce

Yeah, Monte ESP was indeed off. Was just trying it like I'd seen in YouTube tutorial vids.

I shouldnt worry if you havnt got it... Its one of those things you do once to see if it works, then never use again!

Revo dsg map will activate it for you if you havent got it  :happy2:

Also increases the launch rev limiter to c4k revs which allows you to really light up the tyres if you so wish  :driver

Like previous posts u use it once and then don't bother. It doesn't really control any launch, you might as we'll just turn ur esp off and put ur foot down, u use just as much rubber.

its definitely on the 05 DSG's it is just part of the software that gear box manufacturer designed for it.  And it really isnt worth paying to activate if you dont have it ive used it once and putting it in sport will actually get you off the line quicker than launch control as there is just no traction!

If you have the REVO DSG remap then the launch control comes into it's own. As long as you are in manual or sport modes, and the traction control is off, the LC is permanently active. So, you can launch easily without going through the rigmarole of faffing with the brake then swapping modes then brakes then traction off etc etc. It makes the LC user friendly. :happy2:

There's no traction because you're launching at too many revs. It's upto 3000 RPM, depending on your tyres and the road condition you should find which is best for you.

Which way is quicker, using the manual mode or the launch control?

Ive used mine twice, wouldnt miss it if it wasnt there, difficult to get traction using launchas you have to disable traction control for it to work. More  suited for 4wd cars.
