Hi all, had my gti for over a year now and after using this site everyday and reading everybody elses posts and intros thought it was about time I got my finger out and added my own story. I bought my 06 black 3 door from vw in southend on sea in august 2009 with 25k on the clock poverty spec apart from 18inch monza 2 shadows on it, which were'nt on the car in the vw online pictures (it had 17's in pictures). Their proper vw ones as I took them off (eventually as vw had put no copper slip on the hubs or nuts) and checked for the markings after reading about all the reps out there.

The air con packed up on day one of owing car so took the car to my local vw dealer as southend is over 100miles from me and across the dartford crossing, they informed me the compressor had packed up. I tried claiming through the warranty from the vw dealer in southend but they wiggled out of it saying as I reported fault on day one it must have been faulty before I picked up the car so it was up to southend to fix car. I was not best pleased as I bought through a main dealer for peace of mine and a warranty.   Anyway to cut a long story short I had to take the car back to southend and collect a courtesy car while they replaced the compressor free of charge.

The cars been great no other problems had the expensive service done at four years old in april 2010 and the cambelt and waterpump changed thanks to the advise on this site, paid a small fortune at vw for all this work (then several months later they go and introduce their fixed price servicing)
The car is standard apart from changing the aerial recently for a new short one of a vw polo, I love the way the car drives and handles mind you I do drive a mercedes sprinter all week so it would feel good after that! I do like the mk6 gti but I just don't see their worth the money at the moment.

Well thanks for reading I hope I haven't bored you to much???? Great website!!!!

thanks guys

thanks werner, yes they are the mk6 monza shadows, I struck lucky there because they were'nt on the car on the online volkswagen advert (it had 17's) and when I went to view the car they were on it with brand new tyres
