Hi Guys,
I need to make to harnesses for a mod Im doing on the rear taillights.
What I need to acheive is a bridging section between the rear light cluster loom and the light itself, on both sides.
So Im after the part numbers for 2 male connectors, 2 female connectors, 8 male repair wires and 8 female repair wires.
This is just to avoid splicing into the factory loom.
Hope this makes sense? :rolleye:
Thanks
Lee.

Cheers Stu,
Your an :innocent:

Hi guys!
Don't suppose you know which one I need for a wire for the Central Electrics module? Just a run of the mill 'push' in pin type connector I believe to go into one of the main plugs on the CEM? It was on a thin wire if that helps?!
Same type that go into the quad-lock connectors at the back of the radio.
I've got a list of part numbers;
000 979 131 A,
000 979 020
etc etc
Or would one of the above posted by Stu work for this purpose?
It's this type;
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.myturbodiesel.com%2Fimages%2Fa6%2Fswitchlight%2Fvw-repair-wire.jpg&hash=6f44d38da644100c9af1a70fe05d3e5bfd751b73)
-
Sean look on the plug and there will be a part number, give me the number and I'll get you the number for the wire.
-
I think I may have hit the jackpot... The guy who fitted my parking sensors this morning had a VW quadlock connector in his boot, and just took 2 wires with the connectors on off and gave them to me!
Hopefully, fingers crossed!
If not, i'll get back to you asap with plug number mate,
Thanks,
Sean
-
OK the dream is over... It wasn't the right pin! So if possible could you tell me which repair wire I need mate;
I had a look under and saw the following part numbers;
For the CEM = 1K0 937 049 N
I pulled out one of the same brown plugs (not the one I did yesterday though as it's a bitch to get back on, so saving that for only when I HAVE to undo it lol)
Brown plug part number = 1K0 972 929 (A?) That A may not be relevant it was just in a circle at the end of the plug!
So any wire repair that fits the above plug would do? And if you can let me know the part number, is it something my local-to-work Audi dealer can get hold of?
Many thanks,
Sean

Sean
There are lots of numbers for that plug, does it have different sized wires in??
000 979 025 E
000 979 026 E
000 979 150 E
000 979 151 E
000 979 242 E
000 979 243 E
000 979 255 E
000 979 308 E
-
Hi Stu, yeah I think it has a few wires in it of different sizes.
Are those wires expensive? Was thinking i'd just buy all of them and hope one of them is right?
-
About a £1 each.
If you have a friendly dealer then they will likely carry most of them in the VAS toolkit for repairing cables so they may have a look for you if you take your old wire in.

That sounds a plan, i'll try the Audi dealer as it's literally 2 mins walk from work, but in the past they haven't been particularly helpful, almost a 'it's not an Audi, so no' type attitude.
Thanks though mate, if all fails, i'll just get all those wires!
-
Probably a bit late now Shaun but that wire is 1mm so as long as your replacement is the same size or bigger it wont matter. To be honest I think 1mm is the smallest anyway on that connector.
-
Well, the Audi garage were most helpful...Not, claiming they had a box of wires and would take ages to go through it, brought a few out, one looked very similar just a bit smaller connector, after thinking I said "can I have that other one back I'll buy it" to which I got a reply "I don't know where it is now, its back in the box..."
Nice.
VW Were more helpful, going through ETKA on screen with me but told me they were all quantities of 5, so i'd have to buy 5 just to see!
Off to a specialist VW garage in a min to check there!
-
They are sold as Qty 5 but i've never found a dealer that sticks to that.
-
Stu I have just picked up the bundle of repair wires and connectors and the ones you suggested are not the ones Im after.
They are only a one pin connector and socket. I was after the four pin plug and socket that is on the end of the loom that goes to the outer rear light cluster.
Thanks mate
-
So are you looking for the wires to the plug above - 1K0 972 929 that Sean posted?
Let me have an email address and I'll send you the details.
-
Stu I think the requests are getting confused! I have the car tommorrow/today so Ill take a look at the connector and let you know.
Cheers
Lee.
-
No worries Lee.

Just read back over things and I see what you mean now. You want some connectors to avoid splicing and I gave you these part numbers -
1mm CSA wire 000 979 134 Male connections.
1mm CSA wire 000 979 133 Female connections.
2.5mm CSA wire 000 979 226 Male connections.
2.5mm CSA wire 000 979 225 Female connections.
191 972 701 Housing
191 972 711 Connector Housing
They are good part numbers as I use them myself, have a look here -

The missus has taken the car to Bluewater (oh shi*)
Im after the number for the 4 pin connector that plugs into the rear light clusters, along with the socket and repair wires.
I just need to make up a bridging loom between the factory loom and the cluster so I can splice in another loom Iv made up without cutting into the factory loom.
Cheers.
Just seen your post, theres nothing wrong with the part numbers mate Iv got the connectors here their just not the ones I was after.
-
But if you remove the connectors from the current plugs, insert them into the plugs you just bought and then plug the loom you made up into the rear lights. I'm reasonably sure they are suitable wires for the rear cluster plugs.
-
Stu my new loom doesnt plug into the rear cluster.
Ok Ill try and explain. I need a replica of the plug on the end of the rear cluster loom and a replica of the socket that is fixed on the rear light cluster both 4 pin and repair wires to join the two together (your right the repair wires you suggested look fine).
This will then create a bridging loom that will plug into the rear cluster on one end and plug into the factory rear cluster loom on the other creating a bridge of yellow repair wires between the factory loom and the rear light cluster which i then will be able to splice my new homemade loom into thus not cutting into the cars original wiring at all.
To be honest Stu Im thinking of just soldering into the factory loom and sodding the lot! the few bits I bought yesterday cost me £35! for 6 various connectors and 8 repair wires!
-
I understand mate and that is exactly the setup I use when I install a phone except I don't use the same plugs as the device I'm plugging into which it sounds like what you want to do.

-
You see here I remove the original connectors from the plug -
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Foctavia-vrs.com%2Fcms%2Fimages%2Fbluetooth%2FOcty_II_Bluetooth_109_320x240.jpg&hash=37cacbc40ff62310d9103218d08bbe6d84555e46)
Fit them into the male part of the plugs you got yesterday -
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Foctavia-vrs.com%2Fcms%2Fimages%2Fbluetooth%2FOcty_II_Bluetooth_110_320x240.jpg&hash=c8ab601f40537fe4184cebb69e75ab3ddb054958)
Cut the repair wires to suit the length you want
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Foctavia-vrs.com%2Fcms%2Fimages%2Fbluetooth%2FOcty_II_Bluetooth_108_320x240.jpg&hash=8ca115928f740ffd4ce6c1607511ac9304ca0ce1)
Then you link a male and female repair wire with the 3rd wire which is the homemade loom you have. This pictures show crimps but these days I solder and heat shrink for neatness
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Foctavia-vrs.com%2Fcms%2Fimages%2Fbluetooth%2FOcty_II_Bluetooth_111_320x240.jpg&hash=96512e6a8eee7437f082373db695c825e5d42f50)
Fix on the female connectors to one end of the repair wire -
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Foctavia-vrs.com%2Fcms%2Fimages%2Fbluetooth%2FOcty_II_Bluetooth_112_320x240.jpg&hash=a3776136d30d4d461aaa881be810fbad69f84be5)
Then you plug in the other end of the repair wire into the rear cluster in your case and connect the two black plugs.
-
Right Im with you but I need to splice into all four of the wires in the factory loom.
So your way id need four connectors and four housings. A little long winded and Ill still have to remove the existing plug from the factory loom to refit on the end of the repair wires.
I just thought it would be easier with one 4 pin connector and socket? Well seeing as i have one set now Ill only need 3 more. Out of interest how much do they charge you for these/ the 701 was 3.53 + and the 711 was 2.54 +!
-
But doing it your way you also need to be sure you can get a female version of the plug on your rear cluster which isn't always possible.

Sorry mate I thought youd looked these up on ETKA?
-
They aren't cheap these days mate I must admit. They seem to have gone up since I started using them.
-
Sorry mate I thought youd looked these up on ETKA?
I didn't look up your third plug on the left next to the brown one with the pink spots as ETKA isn't quite a swept up as that. :signLOL: I couldn't for instance search for 'the red plug on the rear clusters'. :P
You can try to pick it out on a diagram of the entire wiring loom but again it's not 100% reliable. If you know the P/n for the plug you have then it is possible to look it up and see if it tells you the opposite one.
-
I know its not that easy but there is only one plug that goes to the rear light cluster, but not having ETKA I wouldnt know
If i cant get the 4 pin plug and socket or I can but its silly money then I think Ill just solder and heat shrink into the factory loom.
When I get shot of the car I can cut the loom off, re heat shrink and then wrap in fabric tape and no-one will know!
And save myself £40 in the process! This mod has cost me way too much as it is!!!
-
From what I can see the plug you are talking about is 4 pin, black 1K0 972 774. I think the mating plug is 1K0 972 764, again this is black.
If you can let me have an email address within about the next 30 mins before I go off to work I'll send you the list of wires.
-
Cheers Stu, yes its four pin.
