Just accidently locked my key in my car... i know i know...
Not got a spare!
Anyways just wondering what the solutions were?
Call AA?
Call VW?
or smash the window.. not an option..
Also just wondering if there is any idea of price!?
Many thanks x

how do u lock the car with the keys inside????
-
with the car locked,
use the boot button on the keyfob,
place keys in boot
shut boot
palm to face and say 'doh'
-
Pop the boot and leave the key inside when you shut it! Easy done...my mum did it on her Range Rover :signLOL: Land Rover assistance had to come out, they earthed the car, somehow exposed some wires under the rear spoiler and put a live to one of then and pop went the boot! Was quite good to watch really!
I would try the AA or RAC, I know one of those companies has specialist VW units can't remember which though

Unlock boot only of locked car, put keys in boot, slam boot shut I'm guessing.
I'd give the AA a call. They've got me out of a similar situation before.
Welcome to the forum BTW!
-
oh lol i had no idea you could do that
-
This is why I don't use the boot button. All to easy to do ...
I think the RAC is VW's recovery partner just now - it used to be the AA.

Right... well i can tell you now! That unless the guy has a bump key, theres no way to get into it.... apart from smashing a window!
I presume the doors are deadlocked?
-
Whats a bumpkey?
Im not sure just opened boot and shut it with key in. Gutted.
Hope i dont have to. Surely Audi will have a special trick! There cant be no solution.
-
Well... i did the same thing a while back!
RAC couldnt get into it with the interior handle due to deadlocks. They tried to power it up thru the sump plug, which did work (the instrument cluster came on) but the doors/windows still didnt work!
The only reason we got in is cos the windows were down 3mm... so we managed to fish the keys out of the boot!

Took about 2 hours from start to getting in!
-
Any news?.
-
Not yet. I'll be giving them a ring this morning :(
-

neither do I as a broken nose hurts
Id use a hammer

Door windows aren't hard to replace at all. So if smashing is called for then i'd go for this option.
-
Alternatively you could go in via the windscreen, they have a nasty habit of breaking when hit by flying debris and are not only more likely to be available same day but also some companies have a procedure to replace them with little outlay from yourself
-
This very same thing happened to my Brother In Law the VERY day he picked up his AMG320CLK convertible....he called the merc garage and they advised smashing the tail light and reaching in for his keys!
I cant imagine the fear in doing that especially on a brand new £46k car. lol. On the upside the merc garage replaced his light cluster for free...
Do not do this on the golf though the lens doesnt open up to the boot, if you break the lens you will only reach metal.
-
Would imagine its gotta be breaking a window :surprised:
This is also why I never use the boot button, I just unlock the whole car.
-
Likewise.
What's thus about powering the sump plug etc? Sounds interesting/unnerving.

It is possible! But you still cannot gain entry so it no big worry!
-
Right sooo guy couldnt get in! Damn! £120 to replace passenger window or £120 for a programmed spare key. Also cos im in the RAF he's fast tracked it which is nice of the bloke. So spare key it is and i can manage without a car for the time being... Just! I havent got a spare anyway so thats whats happening! x

At least its nice to know its not the easiest car to break into ...

They are easy to get in, I have a tool to pick the lock. the only security in my view is the alarm

I wouldn't be happy about my car sitting somewhere with the keys locked inside.
-
