I've heard various stories of why the clocks go back and forward in the UK.
One that it was done during World War II so that workers could produce more armaments. Hasn't the govn'ment realised that WW2 has ended!?
Another that it was for the farmers. But they have to get up to milk the cows before it's light anyway.
Another that it's for schoolchildren walking to school. Most school children either get driven or walked to school by a parent/adult/older sibling and anyway it's wrong to bring up children to be afraid of the dark.
I think that the time change pisses the majority of people off. Does anyone know the truth behind it existing? And will it ever get scrapped?
Meanwhile, here's a story:
Someone saw that their dyslexic friend had covered his cock in boot polish and naturally asked why.. Because he was told to remember to put his clocks back.

IMO they should put the clocks forward in summer 2011 by 30mins and have done with it!

What would be better is if we kept BST through into winter and then put the clocks forward again in spring and back after autumn.
Poor joke by the way. :P

....Very poor and not up to your usual high standard.

....That's actually an excellent idea. :drinking:
But being such a good idea it's bound not to happen

GMT+2 is something actually being considered.
The silly thing is that around 0700 it was still dark. If it was BST, it'd be 0800. If it was GMT+2, it'd be 0900 and still pitch black!
Personally I feel we should leave everything at GMT, or better still, adjust society so we work less in the winter. Obviously, the Govt. being what they are, would make us work longer in the summer rather than less in the winter.

....Sometimes I think it's a pity the UK isn't France. The French don't put up with such uncivilised ideas about working, sleeping, and fooking.

I'm putting my clock back to 1987 when I still had hair and only one chin!

I'd be putting my clock back to when I was 35yo and still single.
[I'm now happily divorced if anyone thinks I'm being disrespectful to a wife]
