Hi, I am new to this forum, I own a VW Lupo Sport, but want to make it look totally different...
I have this idea of replacing the front bumper with one from a mk 5 gti, could anyone tell me what the length of this bumper is approx, I will be taking it to a body shop for fitting....I just think the concept is awesome.
Thanks in advance
Nina

For example...
I think this may have been photo shopped but I really really love this concept and I'm seriously considering buying the bumper...so any help would be much appreciated.

So no one on this forum has a tape measure, and couldn't just pop out the front and measure their front bumper from wing to wing?
I would post on the lupo forum but I'm enquiring about a Mk5 golf part...

You expect people who are in all probability at work, around midday to go out and measure their bumpers? Surely it would be more appropriate to wait at least until tomorrow when more people are able to respond to your request adequately?
I would oblige but currently my car is at the dealership.

It's okay. Everyone here's friendly and will help out. They're just busy earning the cash for the v-power! It's quite easy to have a sly browse on the forums at work bu not so easy to pop out unnoticed.

Yeah it hopefully will look like that, if i can get the measurements of the bumper then I could work out whether or not with a bit of cutting and moulding with fibreglass if this could be possible.
My front end needs doing anyway so it's the perfect time to try and pull something drastic off.

mine is a tdi so am i could measure from wing to wing to give you an idea

Thanks i really appreciate your help. I just need a rough estimate so i can compare with my lupo bumper i know i have to research properly into this because i don't want it to look like a fail! LOL :sad1:

When I first read your post, Nina, I thought yuk . Especially as I particularly love Lupo's.
But having seen the Photoshop I think it could look really great! :notworthy:
It'll be important to have it professionally done.
A Warm Welcome to the forum, btw :happy2:

Thankyou, I have been talking to a few of my friends on facebook who work in bodyshops and have asked quite a few other people in the know as to whether or not I could pull this off.
I am really close to actually buying a mk5 bumper because I personally think it could look awesome, my lupo sport is silver aswell so even better, as the picture could become a reality.

I like it when a laydee says Thank You  :happy2:
Btw, "Laydee" is a word I often use but don't often see - I don't know if it has any special meaning or where it comes from, do you? It's a term I like because I don't think it disrespects females.

Has anyone managed to get the dimensions of a mk 5 gti bumper?
I still haven't been given any measurements yet....lol
Thanks.
-
where do yo need it measuring from!!
-
Wing to wing and from the top of the grill to the bottom but don't include the splitter if you have one added... and preferably the depth of the bumper so how far it goes back from the front to the wing/wheel arch.
Sorry to be a pain it's just that I need to decide quite soon whether or not to buy a mk5 gti bumper or buy a standard lupo gti bumper, and my friend who works in the body shop said that the measurements would give me a better idea as to whether or not this could work.
I don't know anyone who owns a mk5 golf, my dad has a mk4 golf gti so no good...
