Got an RNS510 FW2720, with a star button.
However VAGCOM states its a HW03 which is one of the old ones, but my understanding was that only the late HW versions were LED?
Any other way to confirm its a genuine late unit and not just an upgraded A or B version?

Does it have a big sticker on top of the unit? It will end in A, B, or C.
If it is a C, I'm couldn't tell you if its an LED C version, but I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you.
Mines a B version, and this is the sticker I mentioned. :happy2:

If you fit it in the car you'll notice straight away if its an LED version or not.
LED will come straight on with full brightness.
LCD will take around 15-20 seconds for full brightness.
The only other proper way would be to take the front panel off, the LED c version has a totally different power board for the screen and also uses a different gyro for the nav.

Stickers are meaningless, most units have been upgraded and stickers changed, esp units on ebay.
Cheers Darren, i was hoping for an easier method, ie. Vcds values or telltale signs on the unit, but looks like i may need to strip it.

There is another way buddy look on the side of the unit on a B version and the tabs are flat on a C version the tabs are pushed inwards(into the unit) I don't have a pic to show you what I mean but if I find one Ill get it on for you.
