Title: Airbag light - clearing with 1 seat connected only
Post by: SeanyK on November 08, 2010, 01:31:27 pm
Hey folks, long story short, but i've only got 1 front seat in my car at the moment (  ) whilst I wait on a cable order for rewiring the heated seat loom.

Obviously the airbag light is on, but if I clear that, and keep the driver seat connector connected, will it still throw a fault due to the passenger seat not being connected?

Only reason being is it true that if the light is on, then no airbags will work? As i'll be driving for a few days I can't really risk that!

Thanks,

Sean

It's true.

.
Does the airbag warning light stay on after the initial system checks on ignition?

If the light goes off it only indicates that the system can't find one of the airbags but the others will still work (though I don't intend to test this!).

If the light stays on you have an airbag operation/activation problem needing attention.

I know this from fitting my Recaro's. HTH.

From what you're saying, just running around with a seat temporarily missing shouldn't stop your other airbags working. But I take absolutely no responsibility for this information etc etc etc etc.

Hi Robin,

Understood mate, im going to try and run out to the car, clear the code and give the car a drive to see if the light stays off once cleared even with a missing passenger seat.

...Just waiting for the right time, as I don't fancy getting my Macbook soaked in this weather running out to the car

Tell me about it, it's the last time I accept an offer from a friend who said 'oh no don't worry i'll sort it out I got everything' in fairness to him he had all his kit, just not the wire I needed lol! Typical!

Still it's not all tears, maybe until the weekend til the cable arrives and I have a chance to fit, I might take Friday off so I can fit them lol.

... And think of the weight saving atm with 1 seat missing

Oh hello

I think in that situation, id soon be putting the passenger seat back in, rain hail or snow

But joking aside, Robin, i'd appreciate you not using a photo of my missus...
