My car is coming up to its' third birthday and hence the warranty will expire in the first week on January.
Is there anything stopping me from getting the car in for an MOT in, say, December and any warrantable work gets done under, er, warranty?
I guess I'd still have to get VW to do the third year service.

no issue at all and quite prudent :happy2:
can be a month early and it will still run from 12 months from the 3yrs from registration point.
Only problem is if it then fails it then becomes illegal to use.
(unless you fix the problem , which then means technically it would be legal again until the 3yrs point. eg bald tyre which you replace)

The point is to sort out any potential/actual fails under warranty, unless it's a consumable item eg brakes, which they would charge for.

.
It's a very good idea to MOT a few weeks before warranty expires. In fact my VW dealer offered me a massively discounted MOT if I did it before. No subsequent work was needed.

Get the MOT booked in at least a couple of weeks early mate, if it does then fail you can take the issue up with Vw. Only if indeed it's covered under Warranty, as Main Dealers are like Scrooge, they don't give anything away unless they have to :fighting:?
(There shouldn't be anything to worry about, unless you've bought a "Friday Car" :signLOL:
-
I can't recall the build date of the car. Don't think it was a Friday one though.
I don't expect any problems. Just wondered whether there was going to be a problem by doing this.

My warranty runs out mid-Jan too and I want it MOTd beforehand to help identify any potential problems that the warranty will cover.
It's going to be an expensive couple of months - insurance/tax/MOT all due within 6 weeks of each other :fighting:

....[With Captain Sensible hat on (unusual for me)]: You can spread it the following year by only buying 6 months road tax and then reverting to 12 months subsequently. Also, most insurance companies will let you spread your payments.
HTH

....Jeeze! WTF can't you write so others can understand? We then might be able to help by answering your post.

Nope. Mine's a 57-plate but registered Jan 2008 hence MOT due in the first week of Jan.
Bought in Aug 2008 hence, tax disc can be bought at a different time.
Insurance - started in June (when I bought my first car), so a little easier. Though paying in installments means you pay a helluva lot more than if you paid the whole lot up front. It's essentially "financing" the insurance payment!

I did think about doing that with the tax, but begrudge paying the extra they stick on (it's not exactly half of the 12 month fee). And likewise with the insurance - cheaper by paying up front.
I may do the tax for 6 months this time round, but not the insurance.

Mine's a 57 too, registered Jan 08.
