Title: advice on vag-com please

Have the chance of having my brother’s vag com; he bought it in 2004 for his mk4 r32,
Release version is 504.1-UD with the key-usb dual-k-vag com dongle interface
Will this work with my mk5 golf gti if I download and update the software, the licence reads fully registered and activated, thanks in advance

No it wont work with a Mk5. It needs to be either a Hex-CAN-USB or a Micro-CAN.

Thanks, does that mean the soft wear I have now is no good? And new software will come with the new cable I buy?,

The VCDS software is free, the licencing is in the cable.

I maybe wrong but I thought Ross Tech did an upgrade service for genuine customers.

You get a newer cable at a discounted rate??
