Hey folks
When pressing the button to demist the front windscreen and it puts the fan full blast if I pull the washer stalk to put screenwash on front windowscreen the fan stops blowing at the window until the wipers have stopped.
Just checking others do this too??
-
i thing my fan stays on but its some thing i have never took any notice of
-
I'm sure it does. The other things you'll notice is the fans go into recirc mode when stationary (so you don't introduce the exhaust of the car in front) and reversing (ditto but for own exhaust fumes).

My Car is filling with condensation most mornings now, Put the fan heaters onto the windscreen, butit still takes ages,
Whats the best way to resolve fog windscreen? Have heard some say to use the aircon?
-
I would change the pollen filter and think about checking for leaks if its that bad. Air-con will clear the screen quickly but I often find it causes its own problems becuase as soon as you switch it off again the condensation comes back worse than before - unless you ramp the heat up and open the window to let the damp air dissipate.

..........new pollen filter in mine this year & it didn't make much difference, still takes an age. When you say use the air con to clear it do you all just bang it on to auto?.
Thanks in advance.

When you press the de-mister button above the rear windscreen heater it automatically puts the aircon on. Or it does in mine anyway. I'm not sure it would be suitable on something as large as a windscreen but shaving foam stops it misting up. Just wipe on and keep rubbing till its clear but not so much that you remove it. My mate uses it on the inside of his bike helmet and I use on the inside of my goggles. Works a treat.

Am I right in thinking that the AirCon is on when the Auto light is on ? If so if I have my Screen light on it turn the Auto light out ! does that sound right?
I'm sure on my MkIV if I hit the Screen Clear button it goes automatically onto Auto

This sounds crazy enough to be worth a go. Gillette or Nivea??

If it goes t*ts up I can't be held responsible :rolleye:
But if it does work on a windscreen I might bottom it up and sell it for a tenner a time! Come to think of it I used to use it on the mirror too and it worked fine on that too.

Can anyone confirm that when they press the screen clear button that they can't have the auto light on at the same time?
Does shaving gel work... don't use foam :surprised:

If I remember correctly the screen clear buttons turns it off auto, sets the blower to 3/4 impulse speed, directs it to the window and enables the aircon? I'll check in the morning.
Don't use gel, use foam......and why it works:
In some senses, it doesn’t actually stop it steaming up. Steam is lots of little droplets of water. When the light hits it, the light gets bent and so you get a very distorted image which, when you move away from it, just looks like a kind of mist. What the shaving foam does: there are lots of detergents in it and those detergents reduce the surface tension of the film of water so it doesn’t form lots of little droplets. It just forms a big flat sheet that you can see through much better, so you can see through it even though the water is still condensing.

The AirCon comes on when you press the screen clear button. I simply press the aircon button immediately to toggle it off. The screen clear blower continues to go....
