Title: Castrol Edge 5w 30 - £30 for 4 Litres!!!!
Post by: richtung on November 16, 2010, 07:47:43 am
Morning Folks,

Not sure if this has been mentioned before...

My local Asda (Manchester Eastlands) is doing Castrol Edge 5w 30 @ £30 for 4 Litres and £10 for 1 Litre. Im sure that other stores will be offering this deal.

Just to compare, Halfords sell the same oil @ £45 for 4 Litres and £17 for 1 Litre, So, theres quite a saving to be had  :happy2:

Feel free to add more stores if you spot them.

Thanks

Rich

just checked my local Asda in Warrington. They had the Castrol Edge 1L packs for £10.00, but the 4L ones had sold out ! Must be a lot of VAG's in my area  :happy2:

Looks like it is a noational promotion though ?

Is there no such thing as a VW trade club for owners? Vauxhall run one and the way it works is that an online club such as this one can apply to take part and then all the members can purchase parts at trade prices. When I had my Astra I used to get all the parts for a minor service (5l of oil, oil filter and air filter) for just 18 quid.

I'd then only pay £50 labour to have my car serviced and get that all important main dealer stamp all for £68!

If you're willing to let National Tyres loose on your car, they'll do an oil change using up to 7L of Castrol Edge 5w 30 for £31.50

Does that include a new sump plug?

You know you'd have to watch over them doing that but its a good deal if there is no additional labour, the small print says there may be additional charges for sump cover removal.

I doubt it includes the plug, anything they can get away with not doing   Their 'small charge' is £14 IIRC :signLOL:. Probably best to call them, find a branch who says they won't charge for the undertray and then book it online to get the discounted price at that branch

Or there's the if you can't beat 'em, join 'em philosophy - Apparently they buy their oil in 205 litre drums at £1/litre. That would do at least 30 cars @ £7 a go plus at least £4 for the filter. Just don't challenge me to find oil @ £1/litre without breaking into a National Tyres branch in search of invoices

The undertray is held on by 8 small screws!?

I popped to asda in Watford today to pick up the oil, all of the 4l were sold but they had the 1l bottles for £10.
