Hi all,
Thought I'd share this filled up in the north east £59 tesco momentum drove down to Pembroke south Wales exactly 404 miles still have 60miles to burn before I'm empty. Averaged 38.9mpg on the computer motorway speeds of 70, 80 & 90 mainly 80+ mph what do you think is that good or what ....to save clogging on the miles I usually take the zafira 1.6 petrol and it takes a tank & half.
Effortless driving the golf compared to the zafira dreading the next visit when I'm back in the zafira :sad1:

Was that from a GTI? I get around 320-340 miles out of my car...but mind you I rarely drive at 70 mph.
-
on a moterway i got 440miles with some left in the tank, round town i get 290-310
-
If the journey started 'up' in the North East, it's downhill all the way to Wales.
Coasting all the way, I'm surprised 50mpg wasn't possible :signLOL:
-
Drove Doncaster to Penzance on a full tank and still had enough left for a few days surfing trips.. Was,nt exactly hanging around on the Mways if you know what I mean..
-
I filled up in Aberdeen and drove to Newcastle last weekend and still had 1/4 of a tank when I got there.
I was very please with the amount of fuel I used and a lot of the drive was 80+ until we hit stuck behind the usual bunch on the A1 but didn't get stuck for long ;-)

That is good, often see 400 on the range computer, but rarely get a good long motorway run to actually achieve it, and normally end up with 360 on the trip when the light comes on. And mototway miles arent helped any more by all the numpties with terrible lane discipline. :fighting:

These fuel consumptions...are they on mapped cars? Also, what is the AFR you folks are running on?
-
Yes Mojo..mapped..I do the route quite a few times over the year, before map I had to fill up..I have to say I always go early hours and the roads are empty so hardly any obstacles.Even the Mrs asked why are we not stopping.. :driver:

The one time I did properly record it, I had 341 miles from full to 0 miles with the light on. Mixed driving as ever.
Cars an engine standard GTI K03. I'll have to record it again with Motorway & DCway miles in mind but I doubt it'll be much over 380 at a stretch.
Not sure how some of you boys get 400 miles plus - your cars are obviously running well :happy2: :congrats:
-
Never got 400 miles pete seen 410 on range and managed 370 so think your doing well with mixed driving mate :happy2:

Yes it's a 2005 GTI with 69k on the clock, totally standard I think I have achieved these returns as it's virtually all motorway and I rarely had to slow down
I must admit I was cautious with my speed as I did not need to be on site till the following day.
However I have just filled up tonight and I'm doing the return journey tomorrow this time I'm going home so I won't exactly be on economy drive so I will post my returns.
I still won't be driving as if I have stole it..... But I'd like to

Well I have just arrived home here are my returns:
I needed to refuel at Woodhall services on the M1 not because it was empty I only had 85Miles showing on the computer & that would not of got me home!
At that point I had done 280 miles with 85 left in the tank that would of returned 365 Miles quite some drop that from the journey down!
I averaged 31.3MPG & 69MPH..it took 4hrs 3mins to this point…..After refueling at Woodhall I still had the same MPG when I got home 31.3MPG
Now the three points I feel are responsible for the difference are :
I didn’t drop much below 85MPH most of the way…
Someone commented its downhill all the way to south Wales…….He was right! It did seem all up hill coming home ??? never noticed that before?
This is the one that I’d like some thought on I could NOT find a garage in Pembroke that had Super Unleaded so I reluctantly put Standard 95 Ron in as I was virtually empty after driving around. Do you think this would have been a big contributing factor….or is it all down to the lead foot?
