Title: Pansonic TV sound through LG DVD home cinema system
Post by: Pablos007 on November 19, 2010, 03:02:59 pm
Normally I am ok with connecting home electronics but I haven't sorted this one yet.  Trying to get the audio output from a Panasonic TX-P42G20B through to the speakers on a LG HT805TH 5.1 DVD home cinema system.  I have HDMI and Optical cables connecting the two of them, but there must be a menu setting on the tv or dvd that I need to change to allow the audio to be output via the dvd speakers.   :ashamed:

Any ideas where I can look?

Can you not feed everything to the surround sound then send the picture on to the TV instead of the other way around?

Thanks.  According to the manual it should work with the current cable arrangement, but I'll look into routing it through the surround sound and see if that solves it.

I have a Panasonic Plasma TV and Panasonic DVD player with 5.1 surround system connected by HDMI leads.
I found that in order to get sound output from the TV or SKY+ box thru the DVD and SS,I have to set the DVD player to AV,otherwise there just isn't any sound signal.
Dunno if this helps, but it's worth a try.

May sound daft, but do you need a HDMI output from the TV and not an input or are they 2 way transfer cables?

Will try switching the cables around tomorrow when I get home.

Hurdy - My understanding was that the optical cable would allow the audio output to be routed to the DVD unit.......
