A year ago I had the rear windows and windscreen filmed with a 30% tint. I never really liked the tints on the sides especially as they give it a van look, and on a black car you kind of loose the shape that the windows lend to the classic Golf/GTI look. The back windscreen on the hand is better but again maybe to dark on black. The other thing I never really liked is the way you can tell its film by the micro-dot effect around the edges.
Anyway I'm due to have it removed tommorrow and was wondering on what opinions were on the best look?? :popcornsoda:

Thanks Guys I might look into that if I'm finding a need for shade. What I'm looking for are opinions on which look is prefered.

the only slight thing that puts me off the tint films is how they show up the heated window lines and the black dots round the window edges too.
imo its factory tints or none at all

I agree. I wanted to get the rear of our car done but the dot matrix 'white' ring around the quarters and on the rear screen bug me.
Iv 'heard' some companies scrap off the dot matrix or paint over it to get a solid edge so you dont get that effect but Im yet to find a company that actually does it. So until then its factory or nothing.

I think I was naive at the time and thought that I could get a film to look the same as coloured glass, however I do agree with you guys OEM is the way to go if any.
I still think that even with oem tinted rears suits a 5 dr better.
-
I like them tinted!!! :happy2:

You can have the film when it gets peeled off tommorow :P
-
If I had the dough, I'd rather just replace the glass with oem privacy stuff. Tinting imo looks too obvious
-
Have you tried some local glass suppliers? I remember I had a rear window broken and there was a big differenece in price from autoglass to a local suppliers.
Local suppliers will give you a better deal if you buy a few windows too.

Obviously the best look is tinted glass, but bloody expensive. For the difference in price, the tint film is better than none at all.
