Hi Guys,
While in my mates 2006 GTI I noticed the map light area lights up red like the rest of the switches at night.
In my 2005 '55' GT TDI it doesnt, is it supposed to or is it a GTI specific thing? I can't see that personally but I though Id ask.
Cheers.

i assume you're talking about the lights rather than the switches? Has he installed submarine lighting? ie red bulbs so the interior is bathed in a red glow?
The map reading lights are only yellow-white, like the footwell lights and the vanity/sunvisor lights.
-
my Gt Tdi has them, I think its called ambient lighting. Currently trying to mod the rear lights so they give a red glow in the back

i think he means the two small round red lights when shines down on the gear knob?

if so i have them and i think they are apart of the Lux Pack?
-
I <3 those "ambient" LEDs. All GTIs came with them AFAIK, and they were an option on Golfs spec'd with Lux pack or something like that.
-
Cheers for the responses guys,
Id forgotten I asked about this. Yes Sunny thats the ones, in my 2005 GT TDI even the light switches dont glow red at night like the rest of the switches/buttons ect let alone the extra 'ambient leds'.

That's weird Lee, my GT TDi is aslo a 2005 model and it does have the Red LED submarine lights as well as the 3 lights in the front housing (2 map reading and central door opening) and all the swithes are fully illuminated like Sunny's photo ?
-
Mine is 2005 '55' and only has the two map reading lights in the front no central light.
Like the guys said its part of the 'lux' pack??
