Title: Newbie questions regarding wheels.
Post by: Gtiain on November 22, 2010, 12:18:53 pm
I have 17" monzas on at the minute and obviously want to upgrade to 18"/19" monzas. Just have a few questions.

Firstly, will upgrading effect the speedo/ trip computer? Secondly, I'm guessing the 18s won't suffer from wheel arch rubbing as these were an option but what about 19s? If I fit 19s what tyres should be fitted? And finally, I know there is a for sale section on here but is there anywhere I can buy them new? I don't really want replicas.

Thanks in advance! Sorry for hundreds of qs!

Fitting 18's won't affect the speedo as the rolling radius remains the same as the tyre height decreases with the alloy size increases, as long as you fit the proper ofset then you won't have any rubbage , of course OEM alloys will fit fine as they are proper ofset, the same goes for 19" too I guess, tyre size for 19" should be 235-35-19 iirc, for 18" it should be 225-40-18

No you can't get 19" monzas, for 19" you need to go aftemarket copies or get OEM alloys from another VAG model, ps buying new would be very expensive, for example the edition 30 18" rim is £500 + vat each , the 18" monza isn't far behind
