Brilliant seats, I had them in my Mk5 R32. Miss them. :sad1:

....Even more exclusive! You and I are the only two guys with a .:R emblem on our GTI's Recaros :happy2:
Furthermore, you're the only leather boy, and I'm the only cloth boy. I'm always touching cloth
-
PRoper GTi recaro's here too
-
I have them too....half leather half alcantara, soon to be joining Al with full leather if I keep the car!
Mine also have the R logo in a GTI :signLOL:

Exact opposite, i really dont miss them. Explaining how people have to get in and out, worrying about the wear and climbing in and out yourself got on my nerves. My standard S3 seats are miles more comfy as well.
To each their own though
I do want these though when i get an RS3

How is the best way to get in and out of them actually? My wife has childbearing hips and hates getting in, though does love it once sat there.

....One leg in first.. Foot flatly and well planted.. Lift bum over so it lowers into the seat from above, hence minimum contact with side bolster.
It helps if the one with child-bearing hips has long legs. Do you have long legs?

It's all about the pole positions :booty:

....I'd love a RS3 too but I'm disappointed they don't have a alacantara cushion option like on the bigger Audi's.

....I much prefer alcantara (or cloth) to leather seats.
Have you got pics of your alcantara .:R Recaros?

Theres some pics on my build thread, they're chris peacocks old ones from his green mk5, I do like the alcantara but its in a very light colour so very difficult to keep clean! If the car stays im either going to trim the centres in the same material as edition 30 centres or just full leather them.
S3 or an RS3 is looking very tempting though!
-
^^^^
:happy2: I'll check out your build thread.
Please don't mention the RS3 - I'm trying to resist the temptation! Though fortunately the money isn't quickly available.
-
Those seats in the RS3 are nice

What's the story with the red 'logotype' please?
-
My seats are now for sale! There will be a thread in the for sale section shortly

There is also a set currently on ebay

 ^^^ wonder if the ebayer will sell the fronts seperately :signLOL:
£1800, jeezo :stupid: (IMHO)
-
To be honest, I don't think £1800 is that OTT, They were a very dear extra on new cars and are fairly rare already, decent condition too.

not too long ago these could be had for £1000 but due to the scene tax these have shot up but would never change my ed30 seats for them
-
£1800 is a bit too dear most I would pay is £1500-£1600, never seen a set go for £1000 though :surprised:
-
The thing is if you want these seats, you can buy them use them for a couple of years and sell them for very near what you paid. So basically you can have the seats for 2 or 3 years and pay in total no more £ 200. If you have the cash to spare, your going to get f*ck all interest in the bank.
And everyone has an opinion on there worth, but the market decides, they are fookin great and rare, that bumps the price up. Just like the ED 30. :innocent:

....IIRC I bought my cloth ones (R32 cloth) for £1,100 and paid a pro uphosterer £240 to change cloth to Interlagos (material cost £90).
I think the cloth versions were about £2,500 as oem factory until VW stopped the option in 2007(?).
-
Robin, dont know the story, its what Paul K had done... :happy2:

....Cheers :happy2:. I was just curious how it was done: Embroidered stitchwork? Acrylic paint? What exactly is written?
-

Recaro cost from factory
October 2005 price list: £945 for cloth recaros. £2345 for leather heated recaros
July 2007 price list £925 for the leather ones for the GTI (GTI had leather standard then so it says) £2395 for the R32 but included rear side airbags.

They are awesome but I think are even rarer than the mk5 recaros :sad1:
-
Has Rubbertoe said I tried looking for the A8 Recaro(nothing to do with Audi by the way) and they are even rarer than rocking horse stools.
