Hi Peeps,
Had the day off work today so i thought i'd get my wheels prepped for winter. I had already done the front two before taking pics, but here are pics of the rear wheels which wearn't as bad as the front:

As you can see, nothing major, just brake dust and tar spots. So, plan of attack was:
Wash with Bilberry mixed at 2:1 (first time using bilberry) using various brushes
Remove tar spots with AS Tardis (again, first time ive used it)
Clay wheels using water and mister for lube
Wash again with Bilberry
Dry
2 Coats of Poor boys Wheel Sealant.
Taking my time, it took nearly 6 hours to do 4 wheels properly, this included lunch and brew breaks. It was absolutely freezing and the bucket of water kept freezing :scared:
Here are pics of the front wheels after they were finished:

The Bilberry is amazing stuff, highly recommended - its so easy to use!!
Im going to use it diluted to say 9:1 for maintenance washes - does anybody know if this will strip the sealant?
Hope you enjoy my days work! Comments welcome :happy2:

Look great mate. Not shure on the tyre choice tho?.
-
Spangely..... :happy2:
-
Nice work in these condition's. :congrats:
-
I think Bilberry is safe on the sealant. :happy2:
Need to order myself some again
-
..... you know that feeling you get when you think your neglecting you car? :sad1:
-
Thanks for the comments guys.
RE: tyres - these were put on by the previous owner.. i do plan to change these to better quality rubber, just doing research on what to get.
Gave the car a wash today - the water on the car kept freezing over and my drive way is now like an ice rink :congrats:
-
Well done !, but the glue from the stick on wheel weights just soak a bit of rag in petrol leave it on the remains off the old adhesive pad and it will wipe off after about 20 secs. finishing touch ,,
tyres go Michelin or vredestein you wont go far wrong
-
look like new

Love the finish. It's something I need to do to my rims.
What's scary is that my rims were refurbished and looked like your clean pics when I picked them up. After 50 miles, they look like your top pic! :scared: What compounds the issue is that I can't seal the rims until after a week (to allow the lacquer to fully cure).

Great turnaround!! :congrats:
-
i think bilberry after a few washes will affect the sealant, but with two layers on you dont need anything more than shampoo and sponge. :happy2:
-
As above, once adequately sealed, you shouldn't need anything more than a pressure wash.

quality job mate lovely alloys as well so well worth keeping on top of em... :notworthy:
