Going to denmark sometime this year, will be driving there and staying for a week. Whats it like there and what is there to do
-
i worked over there for a month or so a few years back . its cold and expencive , but a nice place
-
We have some Danish members on here. I am sure someone will be along shortly to advise.
-
What part of Denmark are you going to and at what time of the year??
If we are talking Copenhagen area i would be able to show you around if you should wish so :happy2:
-
i sailed around the coast of denmark and sweden for a fortnight last year. Copenhagen is an excellent night out as our most of the coastal towns of which i cant remember half of them.
two things i noticed were i hadnt budgeted for the cost of booze there, it is very very expensive. the other was the women. it almost became a challenge to find ugly birds there. that was until we went to sweden, i didnt now where to look.
Worth going though
-
Expensive! I went last year for work and paid £8 for a pint :scared: There wasn't a rasher of bacon in sight either:confused:
I was staying on an army barracks in the middle of nowhere though so it may not be as bad in the more populated areas.

Expensive beer I could maybe handle but a lack of Bacon would drive me NUTS!

there' about 4 times as many pigs in Denmark compared to people  so no lack of bacon :happy2:
and i'll gladly buy a pint or 2 for you as i'm in need of a courier for a package to stokeballoon :drinking:

I can't believe i said that as i know the Bacon situation in Denmark. Having a "must use brain before typing" kind of day. :ashamed:

Eh?
not expecting a package..........
We should do a Road trip via Denmark to the Ring! Slight de-tour, however the Carlsberg just off Rådhuspladsen is fantastic.
Ps the Little Mermaid is just that......................Little!
:driver: :driver:

We have lots of great places but you have to stick to the big cities... Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg, Odense and so on... Off course i would recommend Copenhagen since its the capitol and i live there myself :)

I think I will probably be going mid august time?
Not sure where I will be staying but ive been told its going to be near the coast, and that there will be alot of germans in the area there for holiday!
Thanks for the offer, id like to meet up with a few members actually, maybe we can get you, mule and agentme all together!
-
coast and germans sounds to me like westcoast of Jutland. Mule, Agentme, Sagild and me are all located around Copenhagen. So a bit of a drive for you  :drinking:

Hmmm just looked at the map of denmark and I think you are right. Wasnt aware that denamark was made of "islands" as such.
I take it I can easily catch a ferry from jutland to zealand, as the TT cant swim

I assume you doesn't watch much Discovery  :P
We have a very fine bridge from Zealand to Fyn, you have to pay to get over though :fighting:
http://www.storebaelt.dk/english/bridge (http://www.storebaelt.dk/english/bridge)
and a small one from Fyn to Jutland

so the TT can dryfooted to Copenhagen :drinking:

So what are danish roads like? Lots of speed cameras/coppers hiding in the bushes?
-
We have a few stationary speedcams, see second to last post
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,7823.90.html#lastPost
The government has accepted the speedcams but they are not operational yet. If you have a newer map on your navi, they should be there. There are no stationary on the Highways.
Speed on highways are 130km/h unless another limit is shown (that being 110km/h) other roads are 80km/h.City 50km/h.
Denmark is not the worst country regarding speeding,,,,,,,,, yet
But i know the other 3 guys you mentioned so sure we can meet up with you :drinking:
-
the bridge from bridge from Zealand to Fyn is immense.
When we drove upto Copenhagen to meet up with the guys on the yacht up there. My tom tom originally took us to a ferry port, so we had to detour back around to go the correct way over that bridge instead.
The bridge was around 15km iirc. i remember the minibus being buffeted about by the wind all the way across it
-
I would like to try the bridge you guys have at Hull i believe. Should be worth a visit as well.
-
you dont want to go hull.....
