Tbh gt5 is better if you want a game that you can put on and play for a few mins, or even a few hours which you cant do with F1, i find you need at least an hour without interuptions to get into it. But f1 is highly addictive when you get the hang of it.

For me F1 over GT5 any day....GT5 is an ok game but no more than that.  Some aspects very un-realastic.

If you do the career mode the shortest race is 20% which is around 15-20 mins.  You get one practice session and qualifying which is 20 mins.  You do need some time in practice to set the car up (some quick options) and learn the circuit for perfect line, bracking points etc.

It is all personal preference really if you want something fairly realistic with tough AI then F1 is defiently that.  GT5 is very arcadey and you can hit the wall without breaking the car, losing time etc.  As the races are very short if you have a spare 10 mins this is a good option.  Not played NFS although had one of previous versions that is fly by the seat of your pants and lighting quick graphics.  All depends what you favour really
