Title: Coolant light came on this morning
Post by: njdudsbury on November 29, 2010, 12:54:16 pm
Hi all
Im sure I've read this problem somewhere before.
Got in the car this morning -5 temeperature, started ok but then the coolant warning came on a few seconds later.
Checked the coolant and its fine. Turned off and then back on again and the warning has gone. Car runs fine.
It also did this last year when I was up North. Again is was bitterly cold.
Anybody else had this problem. Is it just a temperature thing when it gets really cold?
Any ideas?

Yep. frequently. It's the sensor in the coolant expansion tank that get's a little corroded.

Had this all the time when the weather was in the minus figures. Wiping the 2 probes sometimes cures it, but best bet is to just replace the coolant bottle (which comes complete with the sensor). Bought mine a coupl eof weeks ago from the stealers for £14.61. Took about ½ hour to fit, and light has never been on since (and it was -8°C here this morning).  :happy2:

There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago, as said, seems to be common in the cold. Just check your levels etc and you'll be fine
