All,
having issues with the signal for my RNS510.
It was a retrofit purchase from the forum, and has an aftermarket GPS Aerial. Basically every time I switch the car on, it thinks I'm in Germany for at least 5 min until I drive around and it finds the GPS satellites. This is fine at home where I know the local area, but less so when I'm somewhere I don't know and have to randomly circle the block until the GPS kicks in!!! Not ideal.
Anybody else with this problem? Is it likely to be the unit or the aftermarket aerial / aerial placement?
Thanks in advance
Ed

Do a search on here and VWNavi for Regensburg syndrome. I believe you can update the Sw to rectify.

thanks, unfortunately I believe I already have the firmware which is supposed to fix this problem. I'm thinking it's more likely to be a poor quality / placement of the aerial.
Official aerials seem to be about £60 from the dealer which is insane. anyone have recommendations of OEM-quality GPS aerials for this unit?
Are these any good: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/tech_toys_ltd/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340

Reposition your antenna. Eventually I moved mine onto the dash itself.
I still get regensburg on 276X firmware but it goes in 5-10 secs no matter where I am. The longest I have had to wait is 30 secs.
I also get 11/12 Sats most of the time as well.

I changed the antenna for Ed and hopefully this has sorted it for him... :happy2: not heard from Ed but I know he is busy with work so I'm sure he will respond here once he has time to test the new antenna? I moved it up to the top corner of the screen as well.
