Title: edition 30 engine into a std GTI - straight swap?
Post by: jmspear on November 30, 2010, 03:51:14 pm
Can I drop an edition 30 engine straing into my std Mk V GTI?

I already have an ITG so will need to change the pipework to accept the front dump valve and I guess I will have to change the intercooler pipes, I have a miltek TBE system so this should just fit striaght on.

I am currently running stage 2+ map (superchips) so I guess I will have to go to a stage 3 map - their map for the K04 conversion

I am worried that the ecu in my GTI won't work with the edition 30 lump? Surely if I just change over the various connectors it should just fire up or am I being really niave?

Any experience or insight you can point me to?

Many thanks

John

Ecu will be fine, both are bosch ME9. just remove the ECU and send it to a specialist with a BDM tool and ask them to create a map that is equal to a standard or stg1 ed30 software version.  ( i would be happy to do this for you, £100 for a standard or £299 for a stg1 equivalent)

Other than that its pretty much plug and play!
