Title: Lumpy idle & surging revs.
Post by: JPW on December 03, 2010, 03:20:56 pm
This morning I got the car out of the garage & drove about 40miles (@ -9C) and parked up.
3 hrs later I came back to the car & got in it to drive home.
Didn't notice anything at first, but then sat in traffic I noticed that the idle is a bit lumpy-like it's hunting & every now & then it surges to 1500-2000rpm.

Is it the cold & a sensor somewhere?

Any ideas or help is appreciated.

Sounds like it could be the PCV, plenty of posts on here about it. But I would suggest that you get someone with Vcds to do a scan for you. Check on the Vcds sub board for users near you.  :happy2:

PCV?

There is no CEL or anything else.

Well got it across to the dealers today, not local, but supplying.
Vagcom scan didn't show anything, but it turned out to be the oil filler assembly falling apart!
If you held it down the surging went away.

Anyone else heard of this?

So now I have a shiny red 1.4 Golf Mk VI until mine's back :-(
