1. This is only compatible at the moment with VW C units and Skoda B units
2. It is a Factory install so all Maps & HDD data will be wiped
3. You require V7 Maps
4. Your unit will get renumbered:
Skoda units become 3t0 xxx xxx B
VW units become 1t0 xxx xxxx D
5. You may need to recode with VCDS

Whats Different

1. New Poi Feature (which requires V7 Mapping)
2. Long Press of Setup reveals a menu that says.
           FM
           AM
           VERSION INFO

I have the .iso image on my computer and i have had a look at it. It does appear to be kosher. It is a lot larger than normal at 654MB. As i said earlier if you install you do so at your own risk.

Enjoy :happy2:

Sounds interesting, I have been thinking of chopping my A rev in for a C LCD although I'm sure a revised version of this will become available at some point. :popcornsoda:

mine was orignally a b unit running 1120 firmware from factory, now running 1300 firmware, and turned into a C unit, do you know if this is would be ok on my unit, not going to try it as you hear lots of people bricking thier units cos the firmware is not for certain units etc.

The Firmware is not the issue. It's when people have units that have had the EEPROM soldered that causes the unit to Brick.

I can't say for definate this will or won't work is your car a VW or Skoda?

In that case no it won't work at the moment as it is only for VW C revision units :sad1:

Im waiting for Josi (the guy on VWNavi who modifies them) to get back to me as he was a bit unsure as to wether the latest one could be modified to work on previous revisions.

yep been following that on vwnavi, some one has also said that the true firmware wont be out till 2011 week 22? so dont know what that means, ive updated mine to 1300 no probs as i needed to for the climatronic, i think i might just leave it yet as its soo early, remember with other firmware when they came out, people would just update them like crazy, some were beta versions etc, you know what i mean lol

I have a LED C version but its now a D version

Basically VW have made it so you can not put your own POI on it you can only use the original disc, or should I say original copy

There is a new startup screen looks quite cool in black and white....a few new features but has i'm running in and out in minus 2 degree weather in just my shorts then I think ill be going to bed now

Ill let you know more in the morning.

The firmware i have linked is a leaked test beta factory only disc. Hence it wipes the maps and the HDD. The one that will be released at week 22 next year will be 381X firmware and will be a user update which means the Maps & HDD will remain intact :happy2:

 :innocent:

Not much warmer today but I've at least got some clothes on now :signLOL:

Right apparently you have to use the original disc has it as a new folder in the root folder called EBD which carries the new POI.
When you modify the V7 maps it deletes this new folder and thus stops the new firmware POI's working and just says please wait on the screen.

Just re-loading the firmware and then will put original V7 maps on with no modded folders.

Darren

Lee I was running 2720 I have the 3800 working fine but don't have the poi on it I know why but just cannot think how to sort it out,  apparently there is another v7 out that will work with this firmware but for the life of me I cannot find it.

maps 7333 + 3800 = ditto
maps 7400 + 3800 = working poi

Hang on. I have: CD_7333, 11.8.2010, EU(2009Q4)

Will it work with my current firmware (either 26xx or 27xxm I can't remember)?
Will POIs work with the same firmware?

Poi will work with any firmware. It's only 380X that needs to have an original disc for the poi to work.

The Poi work fine with the v7 maps its just when you add the 3800 firmware into the equation.

Looks better than the old one. What'd be even netter is if you could create your own bootup screen - even with a limited palette.

You could put your own picture on SW if you could find where on the firmware the picture was located.

POI's won't work with the 3810 or 3800 as the format has changed slightly.

I ran 3810 for a week and it's certainly quicker and gave better performance on the rear view camera and OPS, but until the POI stuff is sorted I will be staying on 2720.

I am a bit closer to getting the 3810 fully working just waiting for a 7388 disc to come from Poland if the guy is going to send it? If not then will just need to wait until May for the new maps and final revision of the new firmware.

Its the new firmware to bring it in line with the new RNS850, which has a few new things on there, the main thing being how the poi are viewed on the maps i.e 3D like on Nokia and Google maps...also faster response on the touch screen plus most of the older bugs are now sorted, media and other things.

I stuck 2760 on my B version RNS510. Thankfully it didn't brick and the RVC works. Stuck v7 maps on and have got full digit postcode working.

Just need to add POIs on to the maps and I'll be happy.
