Hey folks,
As some will know my car is currently being repaired after I crashed the front end last week, I enquired, whilst it's there, how much they could refurbish all 4 wheels for, they are the 18" Monza 2's and when I bought them, I got them cheap as they were heavily curbed around the rim edge, with a bit of whiteworm in some areas.
Anyway, they have told me £85 a wheel as they need to be diamond cut, put on a lathe and all that and to be done by a specialist, for that £85 it will be EXACTLY how they are intended out of the showroom, or by them £65 just to be 'sprayed' Silver/Anthracite which won't look like how they 'should' be as such - im sure they'd look fine but he was edging me towards the specialist route.
Is that a good price? Ordinarily I wouldn't think too much about getting it done, but I don't have any spare wheels, so if I ever needed it doing in the future i'd end up having to borrow some wheels and send them off and probably pay similar, whereas now they will do it all whilst I have the courtesy car.
Im in 2 minds about it, I might see if they can include 1 of them as part of the repair after all I did hit that wheel hard, but i'll also be needing 2 new tyres, probably PS3's as people rave about them, so thats another £320, plus £550 excess! Yikes!
He did say that £85 was the MAXIMUM per wheel and they might be able to get it done cheaper but was giving me the maximum price...

That's not to bad for diamond cut, BUT personally I would never have diamond cut wheels , either new or refurbed, there just is nothing for the lacquer to take to so sooner or later it will go again, all IMO of course

Try A1 in Wolverhampton, just to get a quote, and then play them off using that price, I wouldn't bother with the diamond cut, looks great, but if it scratches again then it is a whole refurb again due to grit/salts off the road.

Hi guys thanks for the comments, are there any pictures of the MONZA 2's that are just sprayed rather than diamond cut?
Im quite tempted to have them sprayed dark anthracite

85 for a diamond cut wheel is about right

Thats about the right price for diamond cut mate but as many have said you dont want to use diamond cut wheels for everyday use especially in the winter.
The road salt loves to eat that shiny finish!! although they do look good.
If you dont want to go to the expense of another set of wheels for winter use and keep the diamond cut for summer use then Id say go for a painted finish. If the you change your mind you could always get them diamond cut later.
