hi all prob a daft question :signLOL: but if i set off to quickly and get wheel spin (even in dry but more so at the moment), what causes
the banging noise you get from the rear like the wheels bouncing up and down and is there any way to stop this other than driving like my gran :signLOL:
also what does the w.a.l.k kit do and at the mo the car has 4 michi pilot sport 2s so tyres are not the issue, any help appriciated thanks. :happy2:

That would be wheel hop. It's where the tyre moves in the wheel well (sp?) under acceleration.
-
i thought the banging was the top mount and what materials are used for it.
on my previous car the banging was appalling and it was some rubber had dried out
-
I'm talking about the front wheels.

me too

Wheel hop. Pull away with less gas!

.
It sounds definitely like wheel hop and it's the front wheels, not the back wheels.
Either use your right foot more progressively and smoothly or spend money on some mods such as lower engine mount or 'torque insert'. Other suspension mods will also contribute to getting rid of it but beware: modifying is a slippery slope.
It's better to use your right foot more progressively anyway - Power is useless without traction.

.
Oh and you asked about the WALK kit: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,395.0.html

cheers robin :happy2: :happy2: what other mods will improve grip then other than those previously mentioned.

....I'd suggest a stiffer suspension such as coilovers helps. Also anti-roll bars in a less direct way. A Quaife diff helps to quickly regain traction on either wheel. It's really the whole package which adds up to help, but the most effective single mod to stop wheel hop would be a lower engine mount.
