Thanks guys, thats one thing i can crack on with :happy2:

Sorry for all the questions,
My steering wheel does not have the radio controls, are the wires beind so i can change the wheel for one that has, and does this have to be activated ?
Looking at 18" alloys to replace the std 16", what sort of drop do you think to keep some sort of comfort ? ( im coming from a Astra MK5 888 so really anythings comfy haha )
Cheers.
-
No the wires for the steering controls wont be there.
Youll need a new steering wheel with buttons, new controller and airbag wiring loom and possibly slip ring and it needs to be coded with vag com/ vcds.
As far as lowering goes I think between 20-30mm will be fine on 18's use either eibach pro 20mm or H+R springs 30mm as they both get good reveiws on here. I have 30mm H+R'S waiting to go on my GT TDI.
:happy2:
-
ok so there goes me swapping the wheel then :signLOL:
Sound ill look at the lowering, did you swap spings and shocks or just springs ?, and do i need Jetta ones with the extra weight ?
Ta :)
-
Im only doing the springs as most on here say its fine but it will shorten the life of your shocks.
Check your pm's when you get to ten posts :happy2:

Lee the jetta and golf GTI bumpers are different although they do look the same the side grilles have a cut out at the top inside where the chrome strip is...
I bought some Jetta grilles from the bay and they didn't fit my golf gti bumper?? but there is 2 different Jetta bumpers :rolleye: one with the cutouts and one without aka like the golf??? not sure why they did this.
Tom I have the lower GTI grilles if your bumper is defo like the golf? £25 and there yours mate.

Cheers Darren,
I was going on my mates Jetta which he changed to look like U.S GLI everything fitted fine. Now I stand corrected :happy2:
I think he has the chrome strips so looks like his bumper is noooo good.
Shame as I thought id got rid of my set of GTI grilles too
-
Cheers this is mine, is it just that gap thats the only difference at the top of the grill ? Do the middle, upper and lower one still fit ?

Tom the middle upper and lower grilles fit fine, but you can see the upper part of the side grilles it has a cut out in the bumper to fit the longer top chrome part.

Cheers Darren. If i was to put a gti fog grill on mine would it just leave the holes to the left or right of it or would it leave a gap across the top ? Im always up for doing something different so if the fog grills still fit i might try encoropating that top part ( not chrome though )

oh and my current bumper, can a ED30 splitter be added to this style one ?
-
Not sure if the grill will fit but can let you know tomorrow, has for the eddy splitter yes will fit to that bumper mate :happy2:
Darren

Cheers Darren,
was hoping it would be a straight swap but should have known better
-
Sorry for the confusion matey,
As I said my mate converted his Jetta to the U.S GLI look AKA Jetta GTI and all the grilles fitted perfectly. Also when I did my front end conversion I got my bumper from ebay as a Jetta bumper because they seemed to be going for less money than the GTI bumpers!!
Looks like we were both lucky! I had no idea there were two types. :stupid:
-
Not a prob at all matey :D ive dropped you a PM.
Its all good to know :happy2:
-
Guys I have another question :ashamed:
Whats the PCD and offset for the MK5 Jetta ?
From what ive been reading here the golf MK5 is 5x112 but is this the case with the Jetta ?
Ive seen some nice R32 alloys for it ( oh and some EOS ones :happy2: )
Thanks again :santa:
-
Exact same platform car Tom so the wheel offset and pcd will be the same.
Cheers
