Had my works do last night over indulged just a little bit  Just went out to check my oil and now the bonnet won't shut! Anybody got any idea how much vw charge to fix catch or cable? :sad1: Wish I'd stayed indoors in the warm now!

Oh dear! I had the same problem while at a track day in Germany. Wiggled the catch mechanism around a bit to close the bonnet (after first checking fluid levels < IMPORTANT!) and didn't open it again until at my VW dealer in the UK. Replaced whole lock unit for around 50 squid and I now also have AeroCatches! It's not a rare problem on Mk5 Golfs, hence why my dealer keeps the part in stock.
The problem is worse if the bonnet won't open.

Some good news! Rang my local dealer "bring it in straight away they said"
Well the tech looked at it and said it may need new catch or he would try and free it up!
He managed to free up the mechanism and lubed it up FOC, so all seems ok.
I probably get it changed at the next service in may anyway,
thanks for the help guys. :xmassmiley:
Well done to the dealers Motorline Crawley.
