Folks, can someone educate me on the various coolants available?
Basically the book says G12 plus or TT VW 774F, but I went to Halfords there and all they had was TL774D and TL774F.
Out if curiosity can any of them be mixed?
Do both G12 plus and TT VW774F need diluted? I assume neither comes ready to fill?
-
when i changed the water pump on my car tps sent me the g12 one and it does need diluting down. it was not very expensive either

I was told that for topping up, so long as you use the same colour, i,e - red it will be fine.
That's what I use and no problems with all the cold experienced of late :happy2:
-
there is no harm in mixing it if you look into it, your just not supposed to :signLOL:
-
youre looking around £12 to £15 for a 1.5ltr bottle of G12
Where you based cus if youre close to staffordshire, i have a spare bottle of it in my garage
-
Hi bought a 1.5ltr bottle of 'G12 plus plus' (the latest one) from my local main dealer (Stoke VW) and it came to about £8.50. The G12 plus plus is fully 'miscible' (compatible) with G12 and G12 plus too! :happy2:
-
i will check what i can get it for tomorrow at work
-
Cheers folks.
And it's 40% concentration of G12 plus?
-
retail price currently on a 1.5ltr bottle is £8.45
-
Got the G12 Plus (actually Plus Plus) today and topped the bottle up.
I'm a bit concerned as to why it would be low though. My immediate thought was a leak, but can it just get low naturally?
-
How low is low??? and not really over a long period of time it can yea
-
About a mm below the line.

Make sure you dont mix G12 Plus Plus with other red coolants. If you do then it will go a nastly brown and stain the bottle and can go sludgy. VW have done this to show when non VW coolant has been used.
