I have just bought a RNS 510 to replace my MFD2 and want to get my head round the installation before it arrives. Is there a recommended installation guide to follow ? I've taken lots of E46 BMW's apart but never a Mk5 so need help with trim remeoval etc.
Also I will be getting bluetooth as well at some point so wondering if it is best to get everything in one go and fit all at the same time ?
Lastly I realise a lot of this needs coding, is this an easy job using VCDS or best getting someone to do this for me. If easy where is the best place to buy it and what is the cost roughly ?
Sorry so many questions !

VCDS is between £200-£250. I got mine from Gendan.
There are plenty of guides about fitting and coding b/t and the RNS on here, the search function is your friend :happy2:

Thanks - but the search is not my friend ! I tried that first and can't find an installation guide, many posts referring to the 510 and installation of it but not a walkthrough guide ?

I guess you're going to have to pick the bones out of this.

Or you could try this site. http://www.my-gti.com/category/in-car-entertainment/rns-510-in-car-entertainment

Excellent thank you, those 2 links would get me through it I reckon.
What about the Blue tooth install, any tips to links for that ?

I am pretty sure this has been covered on here and the my-gti website but this s also valid but for an Octavia.

If you need VCDS help have a look in the VCDS section as there is a list of users/owners willing to help.

Fastmonkey, if you have a CD changer or ipod connector in the armrest you may get muffled sound from this when changing to the RNS. The cure is to swap the black earth lead from pin 2 to 3 on the main connector into the back of the unit.
There is an excellent guide to this from Nick on the R32 site below:

You will also need an aeriel adaptor for the unit.
Cheers
