they wont be up for that price when the RS3 hits the forecourt.  you would have to be a nutter to choose the R over the RS3 atthe same price

I know the owner of that car, and quite a margin away from 10k depreciation on that car in 18 months

I think the R is a real looker.

Especially knowing you can get the missus, the kids, the dog and yourself (if you're wanted) in through proper 4 doors. I've never been keen on the original 4 door S3. The recent 4 door S3 is growing on me but still not like the back end.

However the R looks like it needs to be given a try. Like you guys said, wait for the prices to catch up with reality. :)

I've test driven both manual and DSG R's. The DSG is the choice one if you are in the market for one. The manual is a little bit too harsh for my liking with the Haldex 4WD. :happy2:

I want a drive in a Golf R ... but the salesman who sold me my Edition 30 and who thinks the Edition 30 is a superb car .... doesn't think that much of the 'R'.

He says, yes, it is certainly quick ... but is boring where the Edition 30 was fun ....

Obviously this is his view and I have no personal knowledge but this view is concerning as this guy knows what I like, knows I haven't got a VW any more and could easily try and persuade me to buy an 'R' ...

I will still try one   but when the price has come down a bit !!!

He may know what you want but imo everyone feels different things and likes different things. Nothing beats testing it for yourself.
Ever thought he may just not have one to sell, or can be arsed to find a secondhand one with little profit in it, want the hassle of a special new order and trying to get an allocation then the complaining from you about the wait. Or can be bothered to try and find you one to test drive known you won't buy a new one. He also probably knows you won't pay that much for one.
