I know it'll only get dirty again with all the slush/ice/snow on the roads but i can't help but think all the s**t that's in all of
that is bad for the car and can/will corrode??
Any tips....?

best advice I could give would be to get down one of the expensive car washes that clean under the car too.
To do it on your drive would be madness, as the water would all freeze on your drive, and next thing, no win no fee, due to the paperboy falling over and sliding down into the road.
-
id like to do mine but cant and wont for a few reasons, 1-my hose pie is froze solid so no water, 2-any water that hits the car freezes at these temps and 3-id rather wait than do a rush job and risk causing any damage to the paint.
oh and its really really cold outside so ill stay inside in the warm :happy2:
-
I was going to give mine a jet wash today but everything is frozen solid!
-
My outside tap was frozen. Otherwise I'd have considered pressure washing the snow off the drive to save me shovelling it! :fighting:
-
Much as i hate a dirty car in this weather no. Clean the rubber mats regular due to all the salt etc but outside gets left :sad1:.Better dirty that have all the locks/door rubbers frozen up. :happy2:

Next clean due March 1st it's impressively grimy. I do the lights and windows occasionally though
-
Just blasted the salt off the alloys and exhaust, and wiped my brake lights and headlights :chicken:
-
I havent given my car any attention for a good few weeks now :(
Altho the last clean it got, i really went to town on it and finished with 2 coats of 476.
I really wanna give it a going over but its just not possible in this weather :(
It'll be a late xmas present to the car when it gets washed i think!
-
Last washed mine nov26 when it got its winter protection, its just to cold to do anything.
-
Managed to clean mine Wednesday this week, not a great job, as hosepipe frozen,so watering can it was, but the car looks 10 times better than before, and also looks great on the works carpark next to the other dirtmonkeys!
-
I have just done both of ours including the diesel devil!
There was a horrid build up of salt on the inner face of the alloys :ashamed:
Glad they both gleam now....although by the time I use them tomorrow, I know they will be covered again :rolleye:
-
I last washed mine on about the 20th of november i think, right before i put it in the garage inside the carcoon, some people think im :stupid: but there is no chance it was going out in a foot of snow, so i bought a winter car , when the salt and snow does one, the golf will be back out to play :happy2:
-
I last washed mine on the 30th of November, bar cleaning wheels lights and number plate it hasnt been touched and i wount be for another month or too till this weather has gone

I would be happy with a garage let alone a carcoon. And I have cleaned mine twice through the cold weather the moment an above freezing spell comes along it gets cleaned and under body sprayed to remove as much salt as possible.

.
I clay bar'd and Zaino'd mine in early November and unless there's a few dry days I'll only jet hose the car apart from handwashing glass and alloys. She's garaged all the time she's not driven and I only average about 15 miles a week in the winter and often zero miles.
Those with diamond-cut Monza's had better take extra care over wheel washing - The road salts etc love to start off the white worm and once it starts it's unstoppable without refurbishment.

Exactly why all mine came off end of last week for a front and back wash and another coat of poor boys sealant, thats two coats in 3 months. Although they are already in need of a re-furb as I bought them pre-whitewormed.

its quite nice to open the garage and see it all tucked up :ashamed: :pomppomp:

only been giving mine a qick once over every now and then, 5 mins of driving and its rotten again.... i really hate to see her filthy! just bought a snow foam lance so might give her a right sorting out when that comes in!
-
At worst case mines getting a rinse everyday with warm water!! Now temps are up slightly shouldnt have to worrie about the salt

I though they advised not to wash with warm water when there is salt on the roads as it acts as a catalyst for rust as it excites the particles.
-
4 hours on mine yesterday, looks great though could do with at least another nice warm day to wax it, get the wheels off,and cleanthe engine bay.
-
I washed mine yesterday for the first time since mid November ..... to remove light dust :P
Mine's also been tucked up in the garage and only taken out once in the past 8 weeks. She sits on a CTEK battery conditioner and I just fire her up once a fortnight. I would have taken her for a spin a little more often but the roads have been so crappy and salty, I couldn't see the point in doing so. The company car has taken the brunt of it this winter.

good man :happy2: i fired mine up today, was so tempted to take it for a drive, but a fresh layer of snow gave me the urge not too :driver:

Mine was parked under a tree for 3 days... so had to take it to the local jet wash just to get all the cr@p off! :sad1:
-
got a karcher as an xmas pressie, so thats all all the GTI is seeing these days, no fibre mitt gets near it!
