Title: Bonnet catch sensor
Post by: Lyons on December 23, 2010, 09:24:06 am
Can anyone tell me how easy this is to replace and how exactly I do it?

Also how much it is?!

My alarm started going off every 5 minutes or so and when I got in and turned the ignition on it said "hood open". It said it once yesterday but then didn't reappear. I'm assuming it's the sensor that's gone.

Im pretty sure that the sensor is part of the catch itself.... so its a new catch, about 25quid IIRC!

I think you're right!

Had it all stripped there to see what's involved, now to reassemble and head to the dealers.

Cheers.

It's not part of the catch it's separate. Mine went tits up last year and it stopped the wipers working as it thought the bonnet was up. I have seen a few switches on eBay. I have just disconnected it!

The switch is plastic riveted to the latch.

Got a new latch from VW for £23 and all appears to be well now.
