ask saint steve
imo most of these products such as redex and those cheapo octane boosters are a waste of money
my advice would be to treat her to an extra oil change, fill her up with some vpower (or bp102 if you can find it) and then do an italian tuneup - nice and easy to do yourself and good fun in the process :happy2:

The millers fuel additives are worth a look.

Irrelevent!
Its on a NA engine which is a whole lot different from a turbo charged car with a fully adjustable map so you can adjust boost, timing and fuel dont ya think???
-
Only a benefit if you can manually increase timing to suit. Even then, still very small gains for the money and pretty pointless IMO.
If you're talking from a cleaning point of view, then Forte stuff is very highly regarded. link (http://www.forteuk.co.uk/product.php?id=49/Specialist_Injector_Cleaner)

To be honest hadn't really thought about it, just remember viewing this.
Who does adjust their timing and boost every time they go out :driver: ? be interested if somebody logged all readings before and after

Why did i know my name would be mentioned :signLOL:
It wouldnt do much mate tbh, apart from loosing you around 10bhp whilst using it, the engine will retard the ignition settings to compensate for the "strange" octane mixture.
In saying that, mine has now down 53k miles, and no hickups whatsover and never underperformed, as has always been a strong bhp performer on the ramps (except when i had a tankfull of it mixed on a dyno day :ashamed:) which GTijames is referring

that vid
its pretty conclusive.. they are all cheapo products designed for your regular halfords clientel...
plus they are not recommended by any car manufacturer and will most likely invalidate your warranty if a problem arose and you admitted using it
as I mentioned earlier there are much better ways of keeping your car healthy - frequent oil changes, stick to your service schedule and use quality fuel
but pouring some stuff worth £5-£10 a bottle in to your £10-15k car on the hope of an extra few horses I would not condone :happy2:
-
I did a back to back test using octane booster and got 12.5bhp from it. It all depends on what octane booster you use and how you adapt timing (if you have REVO) :santa:
-
redex as far as im aware isnt a octain booster its a fuel system cleaner?
i always use v power or tesco momentum in the car, and i can see the reson it would be slower due to the fuel not being pure fuel, i just wondered if it did its job of cleaning injecters and sludge/deposits from your fuel system?
and then do an italian tuneup - nice and easy to do yourself and good fun in the process
what is this italian tuneup thast being refered to by GTIJAMES ??
thanks
tom
-
Italian tune up - put the redex in then rev its t!ts off for a few minutes to burn off the crap or something along those lines.
-
Drive it and redline it.
-
italian tune up = drive it like you stole it :driver:
