Could it something obscure like the wrong side motor as in if it was turned the other way it might be correct??

Not sure the reason for this thread but just FYI if you did not know. Certain model year got it with the parking sensors option it kept changing every 6 months. I will have the info somewere. The rest got it with luxury pack. The mirrors are different to the ones on the 'standard' cars. You didn't need highline for it to work.
You may know this already if so ignore me.

Cars of interest would be model years 2005 and 2006
2007 onwards would have GEN3 Door controllers
-
My tsi gt has it and it has the parking sensors its a 56 plate.
-
Forgot to mention that mine is a 3dr 56 plate 2007..

Mines a 2008 57 Reg UK car with
2. Lux Pack Folding mirrors
3. Highline Computer with Highline CCM
4. Memory Seats
If I remember you put the mirror adjuster to the N/S mirror and adjust as normal for a view to the rear, then when reverse is selected you then adjust the mirror on the N/S again to get a view of the curb/rear wheel, the mirror will them stay in this position until the vehicle is travelling in a forward direction and over 16 kph when the mirror will auto adjust to the normal view to the rear.

Snoopy i have heard that you couldn't get this function on a 2006 car,but GARYTC78 has this on his 56 plate, all though im not too sure if a 56 plate car uses a GEN 3 door controller or a GEN 2?

Stephen the 2007/2008 cars have this function in the door controller but when you look at etka all the gen 2 door controllers don't give you memory mirror info so i assume they don't have this!!!
now on a 2005 car you could have this so this is where im confused :stupid:

2007/57 (MY08) with Winter Pack, Highline & CCM, Parking Sensors - I have mirror dip but no folding mirrors (still looking into whether or not my door controllers will support folding mirrors or not)

Is this called progress?

What does the gen3 door controller look like and is there somebody near Liverpool with vcds who can scan my car.
-
2005 GTI here...
I have the folding electric mirrors but as far as I am aware not the reverse dip... if I do I certainly haven't found out how to set it up
-
You are aware that you have so SET the "dipped mirror position" arent you?
By the looks of it, its set wrong and thats why its going "up then out a little "
Rich
-
I never set mine, Rich. Just enabled it and worked first time.
Just leave the mirror selector switch on the passenger side...
-
Of course... but if its set wrong in the first place it need adjusting! :happy2:
-
Rich i have just fitted a new mirror this morning to the drivers side with the 7 pin plug so that also now has memory in the mirror too,but it still does the same :sad1:
i have tried to adjust it but once its set and then i drive forward i doesn't go back to the driving position it just stays up the way or all the way down :stupid:

Here is a video(not the best)
see what you think!!!

hi Scott
Try it again but drive off. An earlier post said that he had to reach a certain speed before the mirror went back

That is true but by moving the mirror adjust switch th any other setting also puts the mirror back to normal position.

Just tried it Ed it does nothing the mirror just stays down!!!
Also with my other keys when i turn off the ignition the mirror moves to the bottom even more :stupid:
but also with this set of keys the mirror sometimes goes to the top :stupid:

I have a 2007 56 plate GTI (UK) with Factory Fitted Parking Sensors and Highline Computer with Highline CCM.
My mirror dips but have noticed that it only does it with one of the keys so I guess I need to set it up with the other one.
Instructions I got from another site:
1. put it in reverse
2. put mirror in L position
3. adjust mirror to see curb
4. take it out of L position
5. take out of reverse
(4 + 5 may work other way round)
Not tried it myself as was already set up with one of the keys but will give it a go with the other one.
