Well thought I would start a thread as some mods should be coming soon and already done some slight ones!

Background

So I got the car on the 6th December, game from a 100bhp 1.2 Turbo Twingo GT was a 2008 plate and I had it since new, I was hoping that moving to a car with double miles and 3 years older I would regret it.

So on the 6th I went to view the car and test drive, it's a bog standard Reflex Silver GTi with 61k on the clock. It's a 06 plate but the car was spotless, it doesn't have a mark anywhere on either the interior or exterior so I got it there and then. There was problems but that's covered in a nothing thread and not actually car related as such.

So then I decided to get modding!

That will be pretty much it. I will install most ICE/Electrical/Gadget mods that are available, everything must  look OEM though or I simply won’t get it lol.

I will get some decent pictures over the weekend but so far i love it, MPG is a lot more then the Twingo but I will get used to it.

Really love the RNS 310 by far the best mod ever, was after an RNS 510 but for double the money of what I paid for this then I would rather have this. Nothing will be moving fast I'm afraid though as I need a few things privately sorting first then the full modding can begin!

Well a little update! Got the head unit on xmas day obviously and got it fitted, not the best pictures as I still need to finish a few bits and bobs of!

You missed the red tape trick with the footrest.  :P

How do you find the headunit?

Was going to do the red tape but decided against it in the end :P

Not the best as I had the camera on auto focus which is shocking (Canon 500D) will sort some better ones out at the weekend! Anyway here it is after it's first ever cleaned since my possesion, started to ran so a quick sprooce of AG HD Wax!

Well made way for a new mod last night, Armrest with iPod and fully working rear fans (PLEASE NOTE: the knife in the pictures below was very nearly used! Fitting the air duct was a ball ache and isn't easy in the dark when it's cold and raining and you have no shelter) all worth it in the end though :D Every torx screw and clip is back where it should be and nothing broke on me :D

That's another mod to tick of, awaiting some Omanyt reps and then will be March time when these are fitted with new rubber and then put on the car as weather is still crap! Next up hopefully is lowering springs!

The armrest with rear vents was my first mod to my car, You would have done well to have added the euro cup holder at the same time.

The euro one the one with the slider? Rear rest has cup holders.

Decoded against the slider as I use the holders all the time for other stuff that I couldn't fit in the slider :(

Reps unfortunately, quite annoyed actually paid £250 for them and then a genuine set unsold at £195. Could've bought them instead.

No major issue once there one the car I guess! Need to get a set of rubber now. Have my old 18's from a few years back with some semi-decent Pilot 3's on but they are 225/45/18 so not sure how crap the 45 profile tyre will look?

Wasn't really wanting an R32 rep tbh but it seams that's the way it's drifting!

Nothing major to get excited about but my new wheel badges came yesterday, went for black and chrome - wouldn't believe I clayed the car less then 7 days ago! The worse thing about living by the sea :(

Probably not the most exciting update but just got a text of my dad saying wheels have touched based- Meaning when I get home I get to unwrap my Monza II Shadow's!

Same here,  I talked myself it of them and decided to get Omanyt reps to tide me over until I can save for a set of MINT genuine Shadows then got offered a deal I couldn't refuse! Yeah there reps but hey ho :D

Not the best pictures in the world, literally just after we got the tyres fitted, the marks on the first picture are not kerb marks they are the gel they put on the tyres, I made sure they put sh!t loads on so they didn't damage them lol Anyway.....

looks crackin mate! my dad has the RNS 310 so looking for some help here  :laugh:

he hasnt got the post code search so what do i need to do to get this feature and how do you install it on the sd card. thanks mate  :smiley:

Nothing major just a small update!

1) Managed to fit the cable from my RNS310 to my iPod dock, did it also without needing to remove anything major which I was really happy about, fully works too!

2) Audi R8 oil cap! Coolant cap to come hopefully!

Slight bleed on the colours when it's off but I must admit I NEVER have it off!

Make sure the grub screw is tight on the oil cap mate :happy2:

I think it was Stealth that lost the top half of his R8 cap the other day.  :sad1:

Enough of the flattery! can you tell me if there was much work involved in fitting the rns310? I have the rcd300mp3 currently, and feel like an upgrade to the rns310 or perhaps the rns350. Any tips?

Wasn't sure there was a 350 I just thought there was a revision 2 of the 310 called the 315?

Anyway that aside...

It was a straight forward fit for me, remove the old HU, and plug this in, stick in the GPS adapter into the dash somewhere and screw this unit it. That was simply it, I didn't need to change my CANbus nor have I had any battery issues and it's coming up to a year now of having the unit.

It's a great piece of kit it really is ;)

Going around a round a bout and turning right, woman checking her facebook didn't give way and I seen she wasn't going to stop, either put my foot down and risk her hitting the side or rear, or stand still and brace, so I stopped, she hit me still looking at her phone to didn't even touch the brakes once, she was doing around 40mph and shunted me a good 8-10 foot over a mini round about! Fine though, bad back and stuff but still here I guess!

Thanks! Car was written off the same day and got paid out £8500  within 2 days so was happy enough, removed a few bits and bobs myself too, but paid of finance and other stuff leaves me with around £2500 for my next car as I want to avoid finance!

As far as I know, well when I left the scene the copper said he will be looking into it, then latest I heard was there was a data transfer on her phone around that time to Facebook! Every single car I ever get will always have bluetooth again to stop things like this happening!

She admitted liability and the witness said to me she admitted to him she was on the phone too, "I didn't see him as I was on the phone" is what she said exactly! Just trying to get myself fully fit before I try think about the money, the PI claim is in already and I have 10 weeks of physio ahead of me first :(
