Title: Rear View Mirror
Post by: rsreid2000 on January 04, 2011, 08:18:30 am
Does the Dipping Rear View Mirror actually dip.
I have had my car for 6 months now and I haven't noticed it doing anything.
The light is on so I know it is not switched off.

I presume you mean dimming? It's good, it does definatly make a difference if someone behind you has bright lights.

There is no physical movement in the mirror assembly. If the green led is on, the mirror dims when light from behind reaches a certain intensity. There is a liquid crystal element within the assembly which is activated & cuts down the reflected light. You should notice a slight greenish hue to the lights in your mirror.

This can be switched off using the button on the mirror. If so, you'll see no led illuminated.

I used to think mine wasn't dimming, but when in traffic with some 4x4 in the rear mirror I press the button, the difference it makes it fantastic.
Though I sometimes have the rear blinds up, and you can hardly see anything with them up and the dimming mirror on too.

Darren wired in the extra wiring that i needed as i had the wiring already there on the drivers side.

When you're next on the road at night, turn off the dimming feature and you'll notice the difference.
