Hi All,
New year wishes to everyone!!
Over the festive holidays, having friends and family climbing in and out of the car my drivers seat slide function is not working, i.e. if you lift up the handle to allow access to the rear seat, the seat back tilts forward however the seat itself will no longer slide forward.
I did feel something break, and have since discovered small pieces of black plastic under the seat - clearly somthing has broken.
Just wondering if anyone else has suffered a similar problem?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
-
A few have suffered this mate, i think it's some little piece of plastic thats broke & from memory in old threads it's only pence from the dealers BUT a bit of a tw*t to change. :sad1:
-
Thanks, thought as much - nothing is ever easy :sad1:
I shall try the search function and see what it throws up!
-
i have this problem too pal, if you find a how-to link will you post it here :happy2:
thanks pal

Same, funnily enough in my last 3 or 4 cars the same has been the case, always the passenger side one folded forward and moved, the driver side only folded forward.
Mine does it and solution is get them to go in the other side, that way you don't need to get out the car either
-
Mine was the same and I got it fixed under warranty.

See above, sorry the pic seems to have gone from photobucket for some reason, was a small J clip and a nightmare to get back on...
Second time this happened to me the clip detached inside the seat but VW refitted it for free even though it was outwith warranty...must have been a quick easy fix
-
Sorry for sounding thick but when you tilt the back rest forward i take it you still have to ''push '' the whole seat forward manually ?.
-
Yea you do.. I do find though that the seat won't slide forward untill you give the back rest a good fold forward Before it will release the bottom to slide forward
-
^^^^ and if then it doesn't move forward lift the lever and see if you can notice any movement in the release mechanism, if the black cable (like a bike brake cable) hangs loose the J clip is bust if there is no movement chances are that the cable has become detached inside the seat. You may need to get down on your hunkers with a torch and see what is going on.

Are recaro seats supposed to slide forward swell because I've never had a 3 door before I just thought it was because they were recaros that they don't slide forward

Just noticed that this topic has popped up again.
After much investigating I have managed to identify the offending parts, and I have to say although I work in the motor trade (not dealership) I find it rather concerning that my local dealer was about as much use as a chocolate fire guard!!
I will grab the details for you guys.
-
Here you go guys:
Passenger side clip part Number - 1K3 881 132 B. Driver side clip part Number - 1K3 881 132 C.
The clips are £0.55 inc VAT each
These are easily replaced DIY.
If you need some pointers in how to do it just say! I hope this is of some help!
