Hi folks,
Just wondering if it is me, or are these tyre and wheel combinations terible in the wintry conditions that we have had?
I have slid and curbed a wheel when driving very gently and also span 180 at <5mph whilst turning onto a road (opposite camber and ice).
I have Khumo Ecsta tyres fitted and am not sure whether these might be causing/exacerbating the problem?
THis might not have helped: http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2011/01/05/gritters-failed-to-treat-shropshires-main-roads/ (http://www.shropshirestar.com/news/2011/01/05/gritters-failed-to-treat-shropshires-main-roads/)

Get winter tyres is all i can say, the rims has no blame in you needing to tip toe under these conditions, i have the Pescaras with winter tyres fitted, no problems whatsoever.

Wheels wont make any difference, will just be the tyre tread pattern and rubber compound, as jake says if you have to drive in winter then best investing in some winter tyres.
