What's the best way of going about to get a single sub to run of the RNS310 and keeping it all OEM.
There was a guide to a stealth box which I was going to do but can't find that anymore, also what's the best way to do this?
Speaker to RCA adapter?

I have 2 of these about after my old install, guessing I only need 1 though but will it still produce decent base?
Will obviously need running into a headunit then running the sub of that. Say I connect that up to a rear speaker terminal and then will it only produce the sound that was originally sent to that speaker?
Any help with runnin all this of a standard HU would be appreciated, also would need a remote wire for the amp!

I am pretty sure the RNS-310 will be the same as the RNS-510 and RCD-510 in that it wont have an RCA type outputs.
So you will need a line level convertor to get your amp output by taking off a feed from one of the speaker channels.
-
Is the line level converter same as the picture I posted above?
Has speaker wire one side and female RCA the other, So I will connect the speaker wire to a speaker terminal or I could go straight into the wire with a scotch connector, then I have the female RCA's ready to a normal male to male RCA lead to the amp?
-
It may be a cheap one, the ones I have used in the past have a bigger plastic box to contain the convertor.

It will be a cheap one, just found 2 lol.
Will look into the box ones, using this method will the sound be sh!t quality?

I'll be doing the same shortly, best to use a switched live for the amp remote feed (pin 20 on climatronic control unit)

Could you explain more in simple stupid rules? :P

Hi mate,
Well at the moment, or with most if not all aftermarket headunits, not only do you get pre-outs, but you will also get a 'remote amp' wire, which you connect your wire from the amp which tells it when your radio is on etc!
So if you sort the speaker adaptors out to get around the lack of RCA connectors on the VW headunits, you still need to find a home for the remote wire from the amp.
So, connect it to a switched live (ie comes on when you turn the car on and off when you turn the car off) to get around it.
There is a switched live wire, behind the climate control panel (where you set the fan speed etc) when you have the radio out, it's easy enough to just undo the screws holding that in place, tap into the wire on pin 20 and your jammin!
-
Aghhh the remote wire why didn't you say :P
Only joking, totally with you now, scotch connector on pin 20 and I should be laughing!
Cheers for the help!
Time to make a stealth box now, that'll be fun :D

I've used a blaupunkt 5 channel plug and play amp with mine, lots of power with a 12 inch sub, and is as it says, plug and play  Love the rns-510 and now it has the sound output to finish it off (well for past 18 months).

Looks OK but not for me that! Too much room gone lol

Have a look at Hurdy's build thread - he fitted a subwoofer on the left, losing maybe an inch of space into the boot (from the shel support edge).
